So I started watching Messiah, on Netflix

So far, it’s been very good!

It hasn’t shown the main character who is just called, Messiah as actually Jesus Christ, but the CIA agent and FBI have convincing stories on how he’s performing the various alleged miracles.

Not sure where this is going, but it does have an interesting plot
 
Saw the little trailer for that last night. It’s not my thing. And the Messiah guy is scary looking at times.
 
I’ve been thru 5 eps (it’s been a kind of a bingey afternoon). No spoilers, but having spent the last 8 years of my career tracking that part of the world, I find that the socio-political covered in the series are more interesting than the theological points. Also, it has been giving my Arabic and Hebrew language chops a thorough workout. If you’re going to watch it, plan on keeping your eyes glued to the screen, or you’ll miss something important in the subtitles.

Edit to add: If scatalogical language offends you, then you might want to give it a miss.

I started watching it last night. I was disappointed and found it a little corny.
I haven’t decided if I will finish it or not. I think I am on the 3rd episode.
 
Finished it…entertaining…but if anyone has difficulty embracing entertainment that might not be theologically based, I recommend you take a pass.
 
It is entertaining and the writers were well informed on the social/political/religious aspects of our lives.

Is Al Misah the 2nd coming of Christ ?

You have to watch the series as I can’t answer that and neither does the series so far…

What is true however, is the hysteria that such a character could cause in the world, especially in our current time, where people are seeking, but not finding what they’re looking for.
 
Watched it and found it entertaining, even inspiring in some parts. Some of the critical reviews are revealing of the particular critic’s prejudices. This is much better than a lot of what is on Netflix right now.

I don’t think al-Masih could be the return of Christ, not according to Catholic orthodoxy, because he was born and grew up. His character seems to be written more according to Muslim beliefs in the Mahdi.

I finished it and it was very good !

Without revealing anything all I can say is, there will be a season 2
 
I have watched a few more episodes and do not find it compelling. I am
disappointed. I was hoping for a much better story. I will probably finish it, but
I find myself multi-tasking while it is on. Corny and almost laughable in some
scenes. I just cannot take it seriously. Especially when the Messiah character sits and appears to be meditating and he holds his fingers like in a Buddhist meditative
position - “ohm”. It is like they are throwing all these different religions into this
one guy.
 
I’m just starting it now! Very excited to watch, the trailer looks good! I share Netflix with my girlfriend and her family

Also … for reason that too many uninformed
take HollyWoods’ / NetFlixs’ / Etc.
usually very Questionable portrayals of
Catholicism, Christiianity, Jesus, Popes…
as being … .Historical Reality - Truth ~

The Two Popes had nada to do with theology…it was a biographically based (and dramatically enhanced) story of the relationship between two holy men. It was wonderful, and anyone put off by it on a theological basis should never bother watching any movie that even has a remotely religious theme, because its just going to disappoint them and offend them.

I also enjoyed it. I read an interview of the director on Crux. He is Catholic and said he did not intend it to be based on truth, actually it is about grief and forgiveness. 5 stars
 
It made me think, what would it be like if Christ came in to our world today. Not that I totally agree with everything in the story, it just makes me think “what if?” And would Jesus Christ do this or that . It is entertaining to think about. I hope Netflix’s adds to the original series.
