You were the poster I was reffering to by the way. (one of them)😃
Well, this particular Methodist would like to take that Methodist & shake him by the nape of the neck!! That’s completely outrageous, and, I may add, it’s pretty:eek: lousy Methodism as well!!

And when I get through doing that, I would like to introduce him to another Methodist: My pastor, himself committed to celibacy, in order to devote himself entirely to his Christian faith.

And your neighbor can šŸ˜‰ put that in his pipe and smoke it!!🤷

Tell you neighbor to worry about Methodism Collapsing under secularism. The methodist book of discipline now says that abortion is sometimes a necessity. And they are just now talking about ordaining homosexuals.

I am thinking that is more important than a married priest.

First of all, the BoD has actually moved toward a pro-life position in recent years. It is still inadequate, but it’s moving in the right direction. Methodism is not ā€œcollapsingā€ā€“it is trying to recover from a near-collapse. Same with homosexuality. They aren’t just now talking about it. They have been talking about it for years, and it never goes anywhere. Talk to liberal Methodists sometime. The ones who pay attention to national church politics are really worried.

However, it sounds as if the OP’s neighbor is a liberal and would see the things you describe as good. So the point of whether the UMC is moving toward or away from those things is moot.
