What do you think happens in all the Catholic parishes like mine which practice baptism by immersion? The newly baptized change out of their wet attire into their baptismal garments then come join the parish for the rest of the Vigil Mass.

Wonderful for your parish! Wouldn’t happen at my parish–no time to change.
Parishes that have baptisms by full immersion pretty much make the time. The choir and/or instrumentalists just sing/play something until the baptized (and those assisting them who are also rather wet) are finished changing. If it’s an exceptionally large group we might not wait for everyone to finish dressing but no one worries about them strolling in a few minutes into the renewal of baptismal promises or sprinkling rite. The baptized already have that covered.

While we have only baptized one ‘adult’ at the Vigil (she was 10) she went and changed into a white dress afterwards. Whether they are baptized by pouring or by immersion, all our babies are baptized in ordinary clothes and presented with their baptismal garments during the ceremony after which the parents dress them while we sing a baptismal hymn. After they’re dressed (just at the side of the sanctuary where we place tables and towels) they return for the Presentation of the Lit Candle and the Ephpheta Rite.
