As for things such as schools - why should the children miss out on an education because their parents are breaking the law? If they broke any other law, the children wouldn’t be denied schooling.

Mike
So, are you saying an illegal immigrant would have no problem enrolling in school in the UK? They don’t have a problem here, btw. It is just one of the many items we, as taxpaying legal citizens, provide for people who break the law. 😉

The child of a failed asylum seeker would have no problem through the appeals process up to deportation, if that is what happened. I’ve never tried to enroll a child in school, so I don’t know what sort of checks there are on your legality.

The child hasn’t broken the law though, that’s my point. Should the child be denied an education because the parent has done something wrong?

Of course not. They should get the best education Mexico can provide. 😃 Like I said, we don’t deny children of illegal immigrants entry into our system.

Why do your illegal aliens have to seek asylum? Won’t your employers hire them without proper documentation? How unfair.

In Europe we have a lot of problems about immigration, a a great raising of delicuence for this.

Good 🙂

Well, there are a number of illegals, and a number of asylum seekers. There is a bit of overlap, but confusion between the two is an unfortunate feature of British politics.

As for the documentation, I’ve never had to prove that I’m allowed to work in the UK, I’ve just had to say that I am. Conversely, in the US I had to fill in an I-9 and submit a photocopy of my passport, visa, and I-94 card.

Mike

That’s interesting. Since I was transferring to the UK, my company had me submit all of the forms to the Home Office for a work permit; they had to justify hiring me instead of someone else, show that they had posted the position, etc.

I guess I should have just snuck in and started working 😃 .

Oh, yes, I had to do all that too to work in the US - or rather the lawyers did all that, and I just signed the appropriate things.

Actually, thinking about it, there are other checks. You have to give a National Insurance number (in order for tax) to work, and you won’t get one of those unless you’re cleared to work in the country. You’ll only get away with avoiding that if you’re working for a dodgy company that won’t be registering you for tax in the first place - same problem as the US, I suppose.

Can’t you get a National Insurance Number along with your
Social Security Card, Driver’s License, and Green Card on any corner in Tiajuana?😃
