Oh absolutely highly anticipated. Not that I’ll be reading it but writing her memoir means her and her husband are not in the White House.

healthy can equal appetizing. It helps if the government isint mandating schools provide lunches, allowing parents to make such decisions.

Of all the books worth reading I can not imagine this being one of them.
Save your money or better yet take the $23 B&N wants for the preorder and donate to Catholic Charities.

I’m sorry but Melania Trump is so boring & always hide in the bushes…
There’s no hiding in the bushes for any presidential spouse these days and she has been quite visible. She has shown herself to be a woman of the people of this great country!

Well, if I were the 3rd wife of a huge millionaire businessman playboy, I would be pretty docile and under-the-radar too…
Respectfully not to offend either, but opinion only in pondering, on >How many wives or conubines did KIng David have and did he not also have a mistress and murdered his lovers husband? Yet He repented and God tells us, King David was a man after God’s own Heart? King David was rich also was he not?
God has a long history of choosing those, men/woman who are looked down upon by others or thought of being insignificant> to accomplish Great things, does he not?
Peace 🙂

Yes but King David repented when he sinned. And didn’t earn his riches by not paying workers or cheating those who imvested with him. And he did not, unlike Trump, publicly proclaim that he didn’t think he’d done anything that required God’s forgiveness.

Donating the 23 dollars sounds awesome to me, especially since you know that, as with every other “highly anticipated” book, within a couple weeks of its release there will be dozens of resale copies flooding the market at values far below the 23 dollars for the print edition or the 9.99 for the Kindle edition.
The only reason to drop full price on a hot new copy of this book is if you love Michelle dearly and want to go to a book signing or some other event where you might get her to autograph the book.

I am expecting at some point the publisher wont be able to give this book away.
Hope Michelle hasn’t spent the royalties yet.

What does the first lady do? As in, is it an actual office or is it just what we call the president’s wife?

And what would have happened had the Clintons won president again? First man Bill?

One of these years we will have a “First Man”, I’m sure. I hope it’s someone I can admire when it happens.

The First Lady technically isn’t required to “do” anything because she does not occupy any office herself. Most of them nowadays embrace some particular cause that they promote during their time in office, but really don’t do all that much. A handful of them, for various reasons, have done considerably more. In past eras, a couple of them were suspected of actually running the country or being a “power” behind the President. You would not get away with that today because there is much more media and public scrutiny on the First Lady. A couple of them also had a lot of political or social power in their own right, such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Hillary Clinton.

Personally I feel political power couples can be just a way to abuse the 2 term limit.

The Clintons, for instance, are a pair, and if you get one you get the other; Hillary running is like a way to add double the terms possible for them. I don’t like it.

Personally, I have more respect for spouses who do not ride the other one’s coattails to jump-start their own ambitions.
I hope when we have our first female President it will be a person who had her own career in politics from the start and did not first establish herself as someone’s wife, girlfriend, etc.

I’m not a big Oprah fan at this point - I liked her more when she first came out because she was like the anti-Phil Donahue and his show used to give me high blood pressure because he encouraged people to get into an argument and then he ended the show (this was before hosts like Jerry Springer and Geraldo Rivera all started doing the same), but whatever Oprah has accomplished, she pretty much did it on her own, I’ll give her that.

Myself and the fireplace await it with baited breath. It’ll be a warm winter.

I feel the same way. My heart breaks for Melania. She is completely trapped and so obviously unhappy. She sneaks her way into my prayers often.

I agree with you. It’s much better to admire a self-made woman, just like it is to admire a self-made man. One who has built herself up on her own principles, and achieved the vote based merely on her own individual success and not the more-popular men in her life. Much like the Blessed Virgin.

In the USA, The office if the First Lady is an actual office with a budget. Most first ladies have “pet projects”. Here are some examples:

Betty Ford - Equal Rights Amendment
Nancy Regan - Drug Abuse
Barbara Bush - Literacy
Michelle Obama - Childhood Obesity

Melania has said that her pet project was to combat online bullying, but has since fallen by the wayside to do criticism of her husband’s behavior on Twitter.
