Mid-week Bible Study

Does anybody have a mid-week bible study in their parish? If so, how popular is it? Who leads it?

We don’t have one in the entire diocese. I asked my priest about it after mass yesterday and he said he would look into it. He is also the Vicar of the diocese.

we did the 8-week intro to the Great Bible Adventure and got 14 regular participants, led by the deacon. Fr. does not want to invest in the expensive whole series unless there is an expression of more interest (and willingness to pay something). this was heavily advertised and promoted in 3 parishes, with minimal response. ongoing promotion of the full study is also receiving zilch interest.

if you want a bible study, start one, get your pastor’s blessing, start with CatholicExchange and link to their studies.
 
A neighboring parish to mine has at least a half-dozen Bible Study groups that meet at varying times throughout the week. The Young Adult Bible Study, which I lead, meets Wednesday nights. Sometimes we have a large turnout (8 people) sometimes it’s smaller (only 3). It really depends on the support given to it by the pastor, the advertising… and having members give brief statements at the end of Mass, during the announcements, can’t hurt either!
 
We have a Wednesday scripture study led by one of our deacons. We have a morning session and a night session. They’ve had it for many years and it is always well attended. We are doing Matthew right now. We use the New Collegeville commentary series. It is based on the NAB translation but we have some Methodist ladies who attend that use an NRSV and some of the Catholics who attend use the NJB, JB, or NRSV-CE and I use my RSV-CE. That way we can see how the translations word things differently. Plus the footnotes are a bit different in some. 👍
 
Its a shame some of you can’t generate much interest. A sign of the times I guess. Hopefully we here have better luck.
 
Mike, we started a bible study group at our parish a couple of months back, it is lead by our Priest. We have a very small parish and about 10 or so participants in the study. each week we study and prepare for the upcoming Gospel. We are so blessed to have such a fantastic orthodox Priest, he is good with both Greek and Hebrew which has been really interesting during our study.
Totally off topic and none of my business Mikew262, but how is you’re home life. I remember in a past post you’re wife was entertaining different religious views? I hope all is well!
