Okay, I know this sounds bizarre to some and it sounds bizarre to me too! Well, this was like back in March or something and it was like around 3:30 in the morning or so and I could feel myself starting to wake up and I don’t know if I was still in a dream or if it was real or so but I could’ve sworn I saw the freakiest looking creature like right in front of my face! And to me it looked like either a demon or the devil himself! Not that it was literally in my face physically but I should say it was more spiritually, like I could see it in my mind clear and that’s why it LOOKED like as if it was really there!

Why do these things happen? Does it mean that there really are demons and all or did God allow it to happen or was it just my imagaination, which is way too powerful!?

I wouldn’t able to tell you. I know that when I donot say the night prayers of the Liturgy of the Hours, just before falling asleep, my mind is invaded witht he most freightening and ugly images of contorted faces. When that happens I’ll realize that I neglected to pray the LOH. In that case, I will recite the Apostles Creed. By the time I have reached the words “and in Jesus Christ the Only Son of God,” it is like a unpenetrable barricade has come over my mind, the ugly images are gone and my mind seems to go totally blank.

I so thank God for that, for it works each time, then I’ll fall asleep.

There are really demons. If you were doubting that God very well may have allowed a manifestation to occur. We are in a spiritual warfare, got to keep on your toes;)

I read about a female saint who sometimes at night Satan would appear to her as this huge dragon-beast-man thing, like scary movies make him. Anyway, she would just be like “oh, you again” and roll over and go to sleep. The fact of the matter is the devil and his minions can’t do anything to us unless we let them. Plus, they are much more dangerous when they are subtle and they tempt us with earthly things that lead us away from God.

So don’t worry too much about it. If you ever think you’re under attack, St. Michael and Our Lady are great help:thumbsup: .

Yes, I know they exist and all but that was a question I was saying like as if reality was saying, yes, there are demons in the world! Like it was to verify that there were!

The devil doesn’t like it when someone comes into the Church. Spiritual warfare is real, but we have authority over demonic spirits when we use the name of Jesus.

I saw a similar thing the other night. I was hestitant about posting because I was unsure of what it was. My husband had gone out to the bar for his birthday with his brother and I didn’t expect him home until the wee hours of the morning. I had food poisoning and was still sick so I went to bed but something kept me up, like this fear that something was in the house, I can’t really explain it because any other time I’m by myself I don’t really mind. So I was lying there in the dark and I saw a shadowy figure cross my door in the hall way. It terrified me so I rolled over and as soon as my eyes met the window, I saw this horribly ugly “thing” looking in at me. I FREAKED!!! I grabbed my rosary and started praying and the “thing” slowly turned and walked away (we’re in the basement). I’ve never been so freaked out in my life!!! I turned on all the lights and waited until DH got home.

There was another thread on this subject a while back.

I saw something very similar when I was 6 years old on the day of my First Holy Communion. There was a procession as we were exiting the Church and when I looked up in the balcony I saw a pretty freaky looking creature…definitely not human. He/it was laughing and making very wierd gestures and it was mostly black. I didn’t talk about this for years, but never forgot it.

Believe me, you are not the only one that saw something like this - there are many others. Try doing a search in the forum to locate the other thread.

Blessings,
Shannin

The existence of the demonic is a very real concept. I will tell you one of my three other encounters, this one and another one was with me outside the state of grace i am sure.

There was a time when i was about 10 years old, and i was lying awake in bed, in the wee hours of the morning about 1-2 AM, i couldn’t sleep, so I got up and went to the bathroom, then when i was finished i turned off the light then came back in to my bedroom, climed up into my bunk bed and again laid awake for about 10 mins. Then i closed me eyes, then after i opened them back up again i saw something in the corner of my bedroom, it was some sort of white figure, it was to undefined, but from what i could gather it resembled a man. It came over to my bed side and met me at eye level, althoug i was not looking directly at it, i saw it out of my peripheral vision. It stared at me for a couple of seconds, i had expierienced a brief kind of state of paralyisis, only my eyes were able to function normally, i then found myself un able to breathe, as if something were pushing on my chest. I then shut my eyes, and when i opened them back up, the thing was gone, and i found myself back to normal, able to breathe, and able to move about in my bed, this was a truly frightening experience. I am not all into ghosts or things of that nature, i don’t not place alot of credibility in that kind of thing, only in spiritual beings, be it angels or demons not ghost stories. I am a staunch Catholic now, and i know it wasn’t some kind of stupid ghost story, this was very real.

Yikes! Slick rosary drills though!👍 I have heard many people talk about similar experiences. If the devil’s had to fall back on such lame scare tactics, it must mean you’re on the right track sistah! 😃

I believe in demons but some of the things described here resemble “Night Paralysis”. If you want to know more about it do a search both on the Internet and the CA Forums.

The evil one used to appear to the Holy Cure of Ars St. John Marie Vianney at night in the form of a black dog. St. John Marie would tell him “oh how you disgust me, I’m going to tell everyone about you so that they will despise you as well.” :bounce:

I read somewhere that Padre Pio used to be physically beaten by evil spirits in his cell at night.

The prayer to St. Michael is by far the best Catholic prayer against the spirits of darkness. Psalm 51 is most excellent as well.

Theresa of Avila!!!

Well, after reading your posts, maybe that explains why awhile back I was half awake, half asleep and I felt something trying to strangle me to death. It felt sooo real! It was probably the devil himself or his demon team, eh?

Though after I saw the frightening image, I quickly awoke and whispered, “Jesus!”

Satan and his stupid demons seem to attack the Saints and the NEW Christians more than the others.

Why would Satan attack the evil people in our midst - Satan already has them in his clutches.

From your past posts you are trying to become a Christian - right? So it is logical that a demon would be sent to aggrivate you. Don’t worry about it. Just start saying “Jesus” over and over. The thing will go away. They hate Jesus.

I think Mike Olson might be correct in some, if not most of these cases. If I recall correclty, when we sleep, our body paralyzes itself so it doesn’t act on our dreams. the problem is that sometimes, especially if our sleep pattern is disturbed, we can have a “waking” dream, where we are awake but still dreaming, so it’s a kind of hallucination. If we wake up while we are still paralyzed, we can be awake, but won’t be able to move and may have difficulty breathing and have a hallucination all at once!

So it’s possible that these are really visions of demons, but I tend to lean more towards the waking dreams. I experienced them myself and they seem quite real.

Peace in Christ,
Frank

The Sacred Name of Jesus is an amazing little prayer iteself. There is an old practice of writing His name on a card and putting it under one’s pillow. Whenever you feel tempted to sin, repeating “Jesus, Jesus” can really help. As for your demon, just picture this:

I suspect this is the usual apocryphal exaggeration . . that exact same “oh, you again” or the “it’s only you” story is told repeatedly with various names of men and women of God (same story is told of Luther). I just don’t buy it. If Satan showed up in your room in person (so to speak), I sincerely doubt anyone could treat that as a casual visit, no matter how prepared or holy one is.

It sounds like you just need to take astep back and calm down Paris. So far you have made posts about you becoming a Nun and how your rosary moved by itself and how you think you are seeing things. You need to sincerely question yourself and ask if you are really seeing these things or if you just want to believe you are seeing these things.
