Can you believe this guy? My thoughts interspersed below.

[News from Evangelist Mike Gendron (http://campaign.r20.constantcontact...99zl8NwGn5ODLGZtlmAEKEnoTpYtv-HBTrKCjX0HgyddQ)
As we celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ this month we reflect on the victory He won for us over the power of sin, death and Satan. While the victory has been won, the battle for the souls of men continues to be a fierce battle between the truth of God’s Word and the lies of the devil. Let us remember that it is the duty of every blood-bought Christian to be actively involved in the Lord’s army, to expose all forms of deception and to warn victims who are embracing a fatally flawed gospel
Yeah, Mike, that’s precisely why I refute so much of your grossly anti-Catholic propaganda. To, as you put it, “be actively involved in the Lord’s army, to expose all forms of deception and to warn victims who are embracing a fatally flawed gospel” because you you consistently misrepresent Catholic teaching and belief in an effort to deceive Catholics away from our most holy faith, and you d so as a way of making your living, since people actually pay you to come and feed them your messages.
Let us have a greater compassion for people committed to a religion without any real understanding of what the religion is about.
Oh, I think I have a good grasp of what religion is all about.

21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rank growth of wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who observes his natural face in a mirror;
24 for he observes himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer that forgets but a doer that acts, he shall be blessed in his doing.
26 If any one thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is vain.
27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
For example, to be “committed to Roman Catholicism” simply because a person was born into a Catholic family is foolish.
Any of you faithful Catholics reading this remaining Catholic solely for this reason? I didn’t think so. Heck I even left the Church for over 35 years, but I certainly did not return to it just because I was a cradle Catholic. See My Testimony .
To be loyal to a religion without investigating its core doctrines and history, is complacent ignorance masquerading as faithfulness.
Then there’s then guys like me who have done exactly what you just said we should do and not only came home, but refute your propaganda with the knowledge of the Word of God and and the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church. That’s one reason that my blog has so many articles refuting your stuff Mike.
People who follow religious leaders and rituals blindly are either too proud, too lazy or too intellectually dishonest to admit their lives are empty and too paralyzed by deceit to investigate the truth.
Oh PLEASE! This is nothing more than another of your baseless and specious polemics about Catholics and our faith. Do you dare make this same statement about Catholic Answers staff apologist Tim Staples, who recently engaged you (Very charitably I might add) in a debate? See Catholic Apologist Tim Staples to Debate Mike Gendron You do yourself and all those misguided souls who follow you a terrible disservice by making such remarks because they will certainly discover your deception when they finally encounter myself and all the other faithful Catholics who have proved to be neither proud, lazy, or intellectually dishonest, nor empty or paralyzed and have indeed investigated the truth.
(Cont’d)

They do not know why they believe what they do.
Really? Then bring it on Mike! I have shown again and again that you misrepresent Catholic teaching because (as my blog articles plainly indicate) you get paid to do so. If you didn’t feed people your anti-Catholic propaganda, then you’d have no livelihood because though your “ministry” is called “Proclaiming the Gospel”, that is in fact not what you do? If you didn’t bash Catholics like you do, you’d actually have to compete with other real evangelists who preach the good news of salvation without all the trumped up controversy and misrepresentation.
(Relevant: Who REALLY Preaches “A Different Gospel”? )
They have blindly inherited someone else’s tradition.
A rash generalization and untrue. Please Catholic friends and brethren, do you see where you have done as this man alleges?

In fact, I would say, (and people can look at my articles on my blog to see examples) that you, Mike Gendron are the one who is actually offering your inheritance to the blind who accept it without ever actually examining it alongside the Word of God and authentic and authoritative Catholic teaching sources, and in most cases never even talking to those of us Catholics who can explain and defend our faith.
Their religion determines their identity and they will defend it even if they are not actively involved in it.
Another rash generalization and again…untrue. No faithful Catholic would qualify for that foolishness Mike. What’s the matter with you? Have you run out of authentic issues with real Catholic teaching so that you have to repeatedly resort to your polemics and propaganda. Again…you do your readers a great disservice like this because they will certainly encounter myself or some other well informed and faithful Catholic who embarrass them by showing that this is just not true.
Their faith is so “personal” that they dare not speak of it to others?
You wish…I do all I can to share my faith respectfully and cheerfully with anyone who is interested, and I don’t do the compare and contrast with other faith communities because the Gospel doesn’t need it. The truth speaks for itself and the Holy Spirit is faithful to open hearts and draw them to Christ. Like Bishop Sheen used to say, “The Catholic faith is like a lion in a cage. You don’t need to defend it - you simply need to open the cage door.”
Each Catholic has a right to embrace God’s truth or reject it.
Holy Cow! Alert the media! I can actually agree with him here. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h...Smilies/_faint__remake_by_arrioch-1.gif:rotfl:
But don’t expect us or others like us to cheer as you stomp proudly toward hell’s gates. We are angry at the real enemy, the master deceiver, the devious and convincing liar, who uses religion to blind people from the truth. We are grieved at the destiny you have chosen. We are fighting and praying for your very souls. It is a battle we are determined to continue to fight – not for ourselves, but for you. If our zeal upsets you, forgive us. But don’t expect us to give up the fight simply because it becomes uncomfortable for you. If our roles were reversed, I hope you would do as much for us.
It’s not your zeal that Catholics might find offensive Mike it’s the fact that you deceive people about what we believe and even twist scriptures to make it appear that Catholicism is false. You go out and make false statements like when you went to Rome and then came back and told everyone that you really tried to meet with the Pope, which was a bald faced lie because you made no such authentic attempt because you knew, just as I and every other faithful and knowledgeable Catholic does, that you have to make those arrangements well in advance and since you never even tried to make those arrangements, you never really intended to meet Pope Benedict XVI, now did you Mike? {See Mike Gendron’s lies and he wanted to see Pope Benedict XVI) That’s just more specious propaganda on your part, now isn’t it?:sad_yes:

Because I know that we all will face God and account for all the things that we’ve said and done, I do pray for you…but at this point, I really, really, hope I’m not close to you at that time.

Did a quick Google search.
I will never get those five minutes back.
Guys a :whackadoo:
Typical KJV-only Fundamentalist Baptist preaching to his ‘true believers’, stirring them up to hate even more than they did before. These anti-Catholics whackadoos are like Grand Dragons of the KKK. You feel like you’re at a Klan rally.
“Aaaaamin brodda!! Lets teech dem Catlicks a thung or too!!”

If your religion is all about what you are against, then you better take a hard look at your “god”. You fight the hardest what you are drawn too the most. To make this part of the Easter season, quite frankly, makes me wonder if he is more than a little insane.
Pray a Rosary for him.

Thanks for the heads up…no need for me to waste my time. Also…CM looks like he has things well in hand.🙂 Anyway…I hear enough of some of these people on CAL and Open Line.

Hello Church Militant,

I think you are a one-man army! I love your zeal. Go getem! You’re doing a great job!

CM certainly does help keep the “Militant” in our Church. CM, God bless my friend. We could all use a bit of the enthusiasm you posess.

Guys!? 😊 I am an unworthy servant. I have only done what is expected of me. (See Luke 17:10.)

It’s really just sad to see people like Gendron mislead others the way he tries to. I would think that most devout n-Cs would see through his presentations and get clear of him, but he speaks at all kinds of their seminaries and in their churches. You can go back through my threads and see some of the other stuff he’s pulled or said and see where I’ve shown that his exegesis is really poor.

And you can bet your socks that every time he does a seminar or talk or preaches to a community in a city… they are going to go right straight out and go after every Catholic they can find and lay into him with what he’s taught them as if they were the Blues Brothers “on a mission from God.” That’s the main reason that I respond to and refute so much of his stuff. I hope to help reduce the surprise factor and also help equip Catholics to respond knowledgeably (and maybe even engage in some counter-evangelism) 👍.

One thing that I learned the hard way on my way home to the faith was that just because someone has a Bible in hand, or quotes it, doesn’t mean that what they are preaching to you is correct Christian doctrine…and worse, when they themselves are not devout Catholics (and even claim to have been,) it does not mean they know what they are talking about when it comes to what we actually believe and practice.

As always, I urge everyone who reads these threads to pray the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet for Mr. Gendron and his family as well as all the poor folks who buy into his propaganda.

Most of us who were separated from the Church and came back have this understanding. This just came up a couple of weeks ago with one of my coworkers, who told me there is no way he would ever be Catholic because so much of what they teach is against what the Bible says.

My response, of course, was “…like what?” And he flew into a tirade about the Pope versus one way to the Father (and one mediator between God and man…yadda yadda…you know the drill) and then on how the Church teaches the Divinity of Mary… He was absolutely convinced this was an official teaching of the Catholic Church, despite my very plainly telling him otherwise, and his support for this was that his wife, who was raised in and left the Catholic Church, was studying to be a nun at one point in her life.:eek:(in his mind the issue is settled, becuase of course his wife - studying to be a nun- would HAVE to know more about the true teachings of the Church than me)

In a situation like that, prayer is about the only weapon in the arsenal.

Aren’t we all my friend? At least you manage to have done what is expected; most times I can’t even do that.

Hence my signature line. I have told people more than once,( when having given an exceptionally poignant and thought provoking defense of the faith to one of my many Baptist in-laws, or my fundamentalist raised step-father), first-century Jerusalem was not the only place and time in history that Jesus has elected to arrive on the back of a jackass.

Sounds like he keeps a large stash of straw men in the closet and pulls a few out to smack around now and then.

I’m most worried about his Easter Newsletter not being about Jesus’ resurrection or sacrifice on the cross or any of that at all.

Michael, I completely understand how you feel about this, as I have been accused of this by a few (not many, and certainly not you) Catholics here at CAF. 😦
I find this kind of speech to be contrary to Christ’s call that we all be one.
But don’t expect us or others like us to cheer as you stomp proudly toward hell’s gates.
as if he knows.

Michael, I honor and respect your faith.

Jon

Thanks Jon. I have never seen anything from you that should have got such a response and I apologize on behalf of those of my brethren who may have gone there. Thanks also for your restraint in not responding in kind because I myself, know that is a very strong temptation.
as if he knows.
Indeed…fortunately he is not the Almighty. :signofcross:
Michael, I honor and respect your faith.
And I yours my friend. I’m saving you a spot next to me at Mass. 😃 See ya there when the Holy Spirit is ready for you to be. 👍

Mr. Gendron is is a person of little integrity who makes a living off people whose ears are tickled by Anti-Catholic rants. The guy makes hollow statements that if he misrepresents somebody he will retract it; then when presented with the evidence of his misrepresentation will no do so.

His type of preaching appeals to few in this day in age; I am embarrassed for his followers. What he does enforces bad stereotypes that our culture has against people of faith.

God Bless,

Thank You Church Militant and Zooey; these are tough times. We need our leaders to be wise and prudent a lot like those children who walked out quietly and with dignity on a bigoted activist in midst of a malicious diatribe against them.
God Bless

Here’s some other excerpts from his last newsletter. notice his remarks about the Eucharist and Marian apparitions!
Are Marian Apparitions Biblical?
http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs064/1103609831924/img/61.jpg What’s up with all the Catholic hype about Mary? Each year millions of her faithful followers take pilgrimages to places where apparitions have appeared. Visionaries often identify her as the Queen of Heaven and Co-Redemptrix. Are these apparitions and eucharistic miracles some of the lying signs and wonders that Satan is using to deceive the world? This week on Prophecy Update Radio, host Bill Salus and Mike Gendron explore the dangerous deception behind the Eucharist, and the Marian apparitions. This fascinating two-part interview addresses the fatal errors of Catholicism along with the possibility that the Vatican could be the coming one-world religion of Revelation 17. Are Catholics Christians? Is the Pope the coming false prophet of Revelation 13? Bill and Mike respond to these questions and many more. Hear part one of the interview here. Part two is here.

Vatican’s Twisted Priorities
http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs064/1103609831924/img/52.jpg Pope Benedict’s representative in Israel, Fouad Twai, declared that “Israel’s existence has nothing to do with the Bible.” He then compared Christians’ condition in today’s Jerusalem with Jesus’ Passion: “We Christians never forget that even our Lord himself suffered and was mocked in Jerusalem.” Twal’s position on Israel and the Bible has been embraced at the highest levels in the Catholic Church. The Vatican synod in 2010 declared that Israel cannot use the Biblical concept of a promised land or a chosen people. “We Christians cannot speak about the Promised Land for the Jewish people”, the synod’s document said. “There is no longer a chosen people. The concept of the promised land cannot be used as a base for the justification of the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of Palestinians.” In a period when the Vatican’s anguish at the catastrophic decline of Arab Christianity should be palpable, the Catholic Church chooses to demonize Israel and to increase its collaboration with the PLO. I guess it fails to escape him that his comments seethe of underlying dispensational theology, which absolutely crumbles when objectively judged against their own standard of “Scripture alone”…oh sweet irony.🤷
