I’m welcoming all opinions: if you were in my shoes what would you do?
A friend came back from Jerusalem and brought my husband and I a devotion from the Milk Grotto. The devotion includes praying a decade of the rosary every night together as a couple, as well as drinking a small amount of water with the tiniest bit of milk grotto dust. This devotion is for couples who would like to conceive, and the devotion instructs couples to do this devotion until the baby is born.
We’ve been unable to conceive for almost eight years, and we did the devotion for almost two years. I’ve seen a doctor trained in Naprotechnology for nearly 18 months and she said she’s stumped.
We’ve been trying to focus more on God’s will for us rather than focusing on having children. There’s various factors that make this difficult (charting, taking medications, etc.) but one of them was doing the Milk Grotto devotion. Every night the prayer closed with, “We ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray on our behalf that we would be blessed with children.” Obviously, it’s hard to pray this every night while trying to focus more broadly on God’s will instead of just on conceiving children.
But now I find myself missing the devotion and concerned that our Blessed Mother thinks I’ve given up. What do you think?
