Has anyone ever heard of mindless self indulgence? It’s a band. They are considered Christian/Gospel on itunes, but their music definitly doesn’t sound like that to me. Is there some meaning to their songs i haven’t picked up on?

No. They’re quite the opposite. I wouldn’t listen to them, even if I weren’t Catholic.

Yeah, I’ve heard of them quite a bit over the years, but I don’t listen to them. I don’t know why people keep referring to them as a “Christian band,” since their music is obviously not exactly Christian/Gospel. I just think one or more of the band members so happen to be Christians. Who knows.

It’s wierd because they have crosses and pictures of Jesus on their cd’s. Maybe that’s why. We have a pretty dense music department (whatever that thing is called) if they think Mindless Self Indulgence is christian.

I’m pretty sure they AREN’T Christian. Listen to their lyrics and look for videos of their live performance. Thanks.

I just saw a live preformance…
They aren’t christian…

The only reason I know about them is because they’re signed on the same record label as most of the bands I used to love. I still listen to some industrial bands, but I had to give up listening to a good percentage of them, because I can’t stomach the lyrics in good conscience anymore.

I don’t really know why Mindless Self Indulgence is on Metropolis Records, though. To me, they’re like a fish out of water on it.

MSI is most definitely not a Christian band. lol. They are pure evil and would probably tell you so themselves.

Ok, I just joined to clear this up. They weren’t playing a joke. They weren’t trying to creep anyone out. It wasn’t their fault at all really. They submitted their genre to iTunes as “Religious” because they have very devoted fans who follow them like hippies followed the Grateful Dead. Almost. It was iTunes who didn’t listen to the music before deciding that “religious” automatically meant “christian/gospel”. Oh, and also, their act is mostly for shock value.

I love this band, and I didn’t want you guys getting mad at them for iTunes’ screw up. It has been fixed.

Lol, I’m a huge fan of the band. In fact, I just joined this site to answer you.
I advise you not to listen to them. They filed themselves under religious, as in they have a big cult behind them, lol. But itunes filed them as Christian. They have songs that can be considered offensive to some people. I am a huge fan personally, but I am athiest. But actually from being filed there in itunes, they actually got their album,“You’ll Rebel To Anything” to #27 on the iTunes christian/gospel charts. :] So some christians must like them! But they are a band mainly targeted on young punks and are all about fun.
Yes, some people may find them offensive, but if they don’t like them don’t listen to them. And if they were silly enough to buy a song from them on itunes without listening to the sample first, that is really their own fault, surely?
:] I hope I was hopeful, lol.

I just wanna say, Im Catholic and i love MSI ( Mindless Self Indulgence ) just because they are or arent Christian shouldnt affect if you listen to them or not, Its kinda like with Queen, Freddy Mercury was gay ( i think at least tell me if im wrong) and he was one of the most popular singers in the U.S. ill admit that MSI has a lot of very bad lyrics, but i think most of it is frikin hilarious, like Stupid Mf, or Fggt anyway i just wanna say i dont care that they are christian or not ill still listen to them.

Yeah, that was a fudge up on iTunes’s part. They’re certainly not Christian.
I enjoy some of the bands music, I admit. Some of it is TOO obscene for me to really enjoy, not for profanity of subject matter, but for excess of the subject matter.

I’m not even referring to songs like Stupid MF, there are just others that make me cringe…
That doesn’t cover all their music though. While I definitely don’t think they’re for everyone, I do enjoy some of their songs.

Despite what I may think about the music being incredibly hokey, Christian death metal and screamcore are quite popular amongst youth. I love the fact that bands like August Burns Red and DemonSlayer have performed among secular acts. A pretty awesome and versatile base to encourage more fans Christian and non Christians alike.

I’ve heard of them. My friend listens to them. I have to say, they don’t really sound like a Christian band, but a few of their songs are pretty good to me. Hey, it’s my opinion. Deal with it.
