The old gentleman has simply been listening to too much contemporary rap music.
My father, God bless his soul, sat through no less than twenty-five screenings of Star Wars when I was a kid. Seriously, when we pestered him, he took my friends and brother and I every weekend for a long time. Many years later I just had to laugh when, out of the blue, he would recite verbatim really long strings of Star Wars dialogue at funny moments. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I think taking us to see that film over and over and over again must have been a unique form of torture for him, but which he did out of love!Ive never understood why adults today seem to enjoy kids movies…back when we were growing up, and taken to the movies, if we were younger, adults would have us see a kids movie and the adults would go watch a film made for adults, I know for a fact NONE of my relatives would have been happy sitting thru a hour and half kids movie! LOL
I don’t think “kid’s stuff” has to be just for kids. Adults can still enjoy “kid’s books” like The Chronicles of Narnia or The Hobbit or even Dr. Seuss. There’s no reason that animated movies have to be for kids only.Ive never understood why adults today seem to enjoy kids movies…back when we were growing up, and taken to the movies, if we were younger, adults would have us see a kids movie and the adults would go watch a film made for adults, I know for a fact NONE of my relatives would have been happy sitting thru a hour and half kids movie! Recently I’ve been enjoying (re)-reading The Hobbit and the Chronicles of Narnia to my son at bedtime. They’re really well written. It’s happened on more than one occasion that I’ve had to continue reading after he’s fallen asleep just to find out what happens next.I don’t think “kid’s stuff” has to be just for kids. I am glad to have stuff that I can watch together with my kids that we all can enjoy.
These Minions are everywhere, though! Even without watching TV commercials, they have infiltrated our home via cereal boxes.![]()

We’re in the middle of “The Silver Chair.” It’s pretty good - so far I’d say Lewis got better with each book.I’m doing the same with my daughter. We just finished “A Horse and His Boy”. Five down, two to go. Then on to “The Hobbit.”
