I am a minister of the Word in my parish. Just now I am struggling with a serious sin, because of this I have stopped receiving until I can go to confession. I feel unworthy and when I pray I can’t help but feel that God won’t listen to me and am wondering if I should still read at Mass while struggling with this.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Call to mind the story of the prodigal son…give it a read. Probably my favorite lines from scriptures

Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.’ 20So he got up and went to his father.
"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

WHILE HE WAS STILL A LONG WAY OFF…God always hears us, even when in sin. Go to confession, and trust in Him. God Bless.

The rule for the priest is that if he is not in the state of the sanctifying grace, but he must celebrate the Holy Mass, he shall make the contrition with the promise that in a week he will make a confession. I believe this is true for the lay ministers too, God wants living members of the Church to serve Him.

God will ALWAYS listen to you. Go to confession, receive absolution and forgiveness, do your penance. Put your mind at peace.
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
“LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you’d walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me.”
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”

Remember, God loves us irrespective of our worth.

Satan is keeping you away from Jesus.

Get to Confession and ask for and understanding of God’s mercy and forgiveness.
