Actually, the requirements vary. There are Southern Baptists, American Baptists, Independent Baptists, and they all have varying levels of autonomy and requirements for ministry. Although many do have formal education, it is not required by most baptist associations. Members of the Southern Baptist Convention seem to have the most requirements regarding formal education.

GARBC Baptist reguire four years plus seminary plus at least a two internship under a senior pastor.

The Presbyterian Church in Canada requires a 4 year degree followed by at least a Masters of Divinity degree from a theological school affiliated with the church. There are currently such schools at McGill University, the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. Those without an undergraduate degree can be considerd for a special program in some circumstances by Committee on Education and Reception of The Presbyterian Church in Canada before going for the masters degree.

Education is not the only requirement. You must be approved by the Kirk Session (Board of Elders) of your home congregation which then makes a recommendation to the Presbytery which then interviews and accepts or rejects the candidate. It also involves a one year internship at a local church.
