I recently saw in my Parish Bulletin:

Ministry to Gay and Lesbian Catholics will hold it’s annual tree trimming on Friday, December 1st in the home of Jeff X and Will X.

How am I to understand what the Ministry to Gay and Lesbain Catholics really is in the Catholic Parishes?

Please help me understand before I go to the Parish Priest about this.

Thanks and God Bless.

If this ministry to gays and lesbians counsels them on the truth of what the Catholic church teaches, namely that any sexual relationship outside the bonds of holy matrimony (exclusive to one man and one woman) is gravely sinful and that homosexuals should remain chaste (per the only church endorsed same-sex ministry, Courage) and take their burden to Christ then it would be fine…but, if it’s the liberal claptrap that we’ve seen with dissident groups like *Dignity *who advocate embracing their homosexuality as “normal” and encouraging same-sex “loving” relationships, then I’d make a beeline to the parish priest complaining about it.

If it’s being held in the home of 2 homosexual males, then it doesn’t sound like it’s in line with Church teaching. I would at least ask about it.

Peace,
Linda

Why do you all get worked up about what consenting adults do with themselves? With all the suffering and awful things in the world, is God really that petty to care about what two same sex consenting adults do with each other?

I wouldn’t call it “petty”. Fornication is a sin no matter if you are same sex or not.

God says to love the sinner and not the sin.

Here is the link to Courage. I have a dear friend that is involved with it, and it has helped him tremendously, though he was never an active homosexual, but rather struggled with SSA.

Their bishop recently attended one of their meetings and was very impressed. In fact, I guess he was really supprised to find out that most of the members are converts to Catholicism.

Yes, He is.

****It is against the Ten Commandments and Sodom and Gomorrah were the consequences of this particular sin. The brimstone still burns till this day. Old and New Testament condemn this sin as “doing that which is filthy”. St. Paul to the Romans: Chapter 1 vs. 26-32: “For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error. And as they liked not have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy. Who having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.” {That is a mighty hard judgment there folks, and is nothing to take lightly} Any sin against nature is mortally sinful and gravely detrimental to the immortal soul as well as to society in general. What does it do to anyone? It destroys their soul! 😦

Why is it a sin? Whom does it harm?
As Mary told the three children at Fatima, “More people go to Hell for sins of the Flesh than anything else,”

We must pray for fellow humans who struggle with SSA. We can not condone their behavior if it leads to serious sin.

Which particular one of the Ten Commandments?

Are you serious?

Leviticus 18
Leviticus 20:13
Romans 1:24-27

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Timothy 1:10
It harms the individuals involved as they may lose their inheritence with God in Heaven unless they repent and change their ways.

Sodomy is one of 4 sins “That Cry To Heaven”. And a good Catholic can name the other 3 without thinking very hard:D

oppression of the poor, defrauding laborers of their wages, and willful murder–did I get them right? 🤓

What is the difference between a sin that cries out to heaven and one that does not?

Because Scriptures says they cry out (DRV Gen. 4:10; Gen. 18:20, 19:13; Exo. 22:22-23; Deut. 24:14-15, Jas. 5:4) and they are so offensive to God that He punshes them with the most grievous chastisements and punishments.
