No one hurt – even statues spared, although doors and pews battered. Suspect was angry at God, witness says.

God only knows what a man was thinking when he allegedly aimed a minivan at the doors of a Rancho Cordova church late Saturday night and cut a swath of destruction through the house of worship.

Harold David Zequeda, 36, was behind the wheel of a silver Ford Windstar that crashed through St. John Vianney Church on Coloma Road, Sacramento sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran said Sunday.

The driver pulled onto the church’s front lawn and floored it, witnesses said.

Something about that story, the forgiveness and concern offered the driver and the fact that no one was hurt somehow conjures up in my mind the image of an squalling toddler pummeling tiny fists against his father’s chest even while he is being picked up and comforted…May God help and comfort him.

The article disappointed me, because they decided not to use the term “altar” but instead said “communion table.”

Its disappointing. Luthrens have Communion Tables. we have altars, it shows the difference between the two theologies of the Eucharist.

sorry for the tangent
