I have become aware that 2 of my nephews are sexually active. They are 14 and 16. Do I tell my siblings (their parents?) I got this info from my 12 y.o. son who roomed with them during a family reunion. Ugh.

I would say yes. It may be a heavy burden to bear knowing you have that knowledge in case something bad were to happen 😦

Did they tell your son they were having sex? There’s no guarantee they were telling the truth - maybe they made it up to seem cool? At any rate, I would mention it to the parents and probably beg they not say who told them so, otherwise they might take it out on your son. Does he see them often?

Edit: One more question… will the parents care or do anything to stop it? If I was fairly certain that my sibblings wouldn’t step up and deal with it… ( I have a brother who would sooooo be like, boys will be boys… that’s what they do 😦 ) if that were the case I would mind my own business because what good would it do to tell?

I would tell.

A fourteen yr old having sex??? The though of that is nauseating…if I was the parents I’d want to know.

Like yellowbird said, since with boys there is that element of exaggeration , you might just want to say to your siblings…I have a feeling Joey might be sexually active, you might want to ask him about it. Or something like that. If they scoff at that, then you can let them know how you heard it.

Not a nice situation to be in! Prayers for you and especially those poor boys:signofcross:

Having sex with a minor (16 or younger) is illegal in the USA. Anyone knowledgeable that this is occurring is required by law, I believe, to contact child protective services.

If the 14 is having sex with an older woman / girl, she is committing statitory rape. If the 14 year old is having sex with another 14 year old or younger, then he may be guilty.

I believe at a minimum you must inform the parents. And God bless your son for telling you.

Yes…for their own good. Protect your son from retribution, however.

What they are doing is illegal - well at least for the 14 year old - so yes - raise your concerns.

Yes, definitely tell their parents. Their parents have a right to know this stuff.

Another good reason to tell… these kids are MINORS. When they get someone pregnant, Mom and Dad will be on the hook for child support! And in some states, if the age difference between the “lovers” is more than two years, the older person could be charged with a serious FELONY!
