I had a little miracle in my life today. There was a replica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is the chapel today. We were venerating Mary to pray for help in ending abortion and the man from the Cathedral told us of all the miracles that the original and replica were responsible for. So when we prayed the rosary and we were allowed to go up and touch the painting, I reached to touch Mary’s preqnant belly, and touched the painting, I felt a heart beat within me, not my own, that truly fulfilled me and called me to come to be friends with Mary. It amazed me as Im a cynic.
 
Aw, thank you for sharing this! How wonderful. I think Our Lady reached out, and shared a beat of her Baby’s heart, with you. 😉 God bless.
 
Let me share my statue story.

One time I went to a Church, and I saw some people going up to the sacred heart statue and touching the heart. I obviously found this kind of cute, harmless at best, but I was kind of repulsed by my own feelings of superiority so I decided to do the same, just to show some humility before God.

Immediately, I started to feel a burning in my own chest right where my heart was, I won’t forget it. I thought perhaps my ipod had caught on fire, it was really warm (not heartburn… I know the difference). As I walked out of the church and into the antechamber I checked my ipod and it was fine, and I realized something weird had just happened.

That same kind of burning happened the first time I picked up the Gospel of Mark. I thought I was going to pass out. It was intense.
 
These are both wonderful examples of how our Lord reaches out to touch us. Thank you for sharing. While I haven’t had “similar” experiences, I have been blessed by other encounters with our Lord and our Mother Mary. I’ve also had experiences in which I’ve run into the, uh, other side.

I know many people who have been similarly blessed. Yet, when I start to share a little of these things with my family – beyond my wife and son – I get those “you’re wierd” looks. Most in my family are practicing Catholics and some have had experiences that are at least a little unexplainable (i.e., miraculous). Yet, if I relayed these stories to them, they’d roll their eyes. They, apparently, have not had such experiences.

I guess I’m wondering how many people – especially Catholics, since that is my background – have been touched by our Lord or our Mother Mary through nature, through sacramentals, through other people (e.g., people coming up to them, saying, 'The Lord wanted me to tell you something. . . '), etc. Growing up, I used to think that the “little old ladies” attending daily mass were there out of superstitious habit (and maybe some were), but, now being about ten years away from “little old” status myself, I now wonder how many of them were there every day because they couldn’t get enough of being with their Lord “in person” (i.e., the Eucharist). Kind of a rambling question/observation:hmmm: , but I’m wondering if you have any thoughts about this. Thanks and God bless.
