Heavenly Father, in faith, I thank You for protecting, guiding, and blessing Miracle and her children. Father, Miracle needs a sign from You that You are indeed with her. Father, in faith, I am also thanking You for showing her that you are indeed with her and her children. Father, Miracle needs You to walk with her and her children each and every step of the way. I don’t know why you are delaying some things for them, but I do know that You are our Almighty God, and that You do everything for our good. I trust Lord that You are preparing a bright path for Miracle and her children. Lord, in the name of Your son Jesus Christ, I ask you to break the bonds that are holding Miracle and her children back. Lord, in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, I ask You to move them forward to the bright future You have in store for them. Thank You Father. Amen.

Your prayer is much appreciated and not late. My situation is still the same, so prayers are so needed and I am thankful for them. I am hoping this Christmas season brings a miracle for my children and I, as he did for the whole world when Jesus was born. The only thing that keeps me going, is the thought and prayer that if I hang on one more day, week, etc that our miracle will come! Getting so much harder as my son is getting older and I can tell that I am not able to shelter him from the problems like I used too. I am trying to be patient, but know that the longer it takes the worse it is, especially on him. Even if we do get out, that is only half of my battle, as I know that I have a lot of emotional healing to do. But, I will be so thankful just to be able to be at a point where I can begin to heal!

Thank you so, NiceMiMi, for your continued prayers.

Bless you both!

**My prayers are with you. Peace in Christ.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.**

Than you all and bless you all for your prayers. I hope that the Christmas season brings you all much happiness.

Sorry, I am just a bit discouraged. I am trying to keep my spirits up, telling myself that freedom is just around the corner, it is just hard…

It can be very hard when we are wanting/hoping for things to happen according to how hopes and prayers…

And God’s (permissive?) will to allow a different outcome…

Praying for you MiracleNeeded… 😦

Hi Miracle. I trust all is going well, in spite of the challenges. I find that when some things are not going well, I just sit down, close my eyes, and picture what I would like to happen in my mind. That makes me feel better, and I find that eventually things do start to turn around for me. Things may not happen in our time, but when you keep your faith in God, things do turn around for the better. I know it sounds naive, but please keep the faith because God comes through! Wishing you and your children a bless Christmas and New Year.

I have not been able to post as often due to some challenges on this end, but please know that I am keeping you and your children in prayer. God bless you all!

Thank you so for your continued prayers. You have no idea how much they mean, I type this through tears. I am trying so to keep my hopes high, especially for the children. There have been no changes in my situation, I am sad to say. Yes, I do often close my eyes, and think of ways life could be different/better. It is how I go to bed each night.

I am so sorry that things have been challenging on your end. My heart goes out to you. I hope the Christmas season brings great things for you and everyone reading this message!

Hello Miracle! I feel very badly that there have been no changes to your situation. I will continue to pray for you and your children. One other thing that I do is that when things get challenging, I just start thanking God for walking me out of the challenges. I also start to count my blessings (i.e. food on the table, roof over our heads, etc.). I don’t know if this will help you, but you may want to try it.

Thank you for your good wishes for us. We continue to pray, and trust that God has the best of plans for us. I also find that doing what I suggested to you (above) has helped me keep my spirits up.

Dear One, you are not alone, and are a savvy lady going through a confusing time, to say the least!

I understand all that you are saying about not wanting to live in a trailer, and finances, etc. May I ask, in case I missed something, the following, so I might help further?

Do you have any relatives with room to take you and the children all in, if that is what you decide to do?

Do you have a trusted priest nearby or someone he could refer you to?

Access to an attorney who will charge on a sliding scale?

I do worry about the STD possibilities, but so far, so good. This will be a continuing issue though. How do you plan to deal with that?

What are your husband’s feelings about the children? Sounds like he bullies you into not staying at home. That said, with your qualifications, (in another town) you could start over, but if alone, I understand, you would still be working.

I worry greatly about the drinking with children in the car. Please don’t let that happen again. I know it is hard, if they need to be taken back and forth to school, but he mustn’t be allowed to drink and drive.

Again, do you have any support system at all? Friends, relatives?

Lastly, would he agree to move out, pay child support and alimony or would he become angry and abusive? My thought here is that the children are affected by his drinking. Could you stay in the family home with the children, while he possibly gets more help for his drinking and sexual behaviors?

I have seen miracles happen with people, complete change arounds, but you have tried this. I agree that you might be able to get an annulment but hope you can find time to think about this, not making any decisions while you are overwhelmed.

All prayers are with you. Please let us know how things go, and I hope you have access to counseling to help you make these decisions. Special prayers for you and the children, and as God is Great, for your husband to have an extreme change of heart and behavior, as you have already gone through so much.:angel1:
Blessings,
Kathryn Ann

Do you have any relatives with room to take you and the children all in, if that is what you decide to do? No, unfortunately I do not.

Do you have a trusted priest nearby or someone he could refer you to? Not really.

Access to an attorney who will charge on a sliding scale? No. I have met with an attorney. And that meeting was so discouraging, I basically found out that he would have to pay almost no child support, and there is no way I can protect the children from him. (If I could afford to hire a GREAT attorney and PI, that might be a different story.)

I do worry about the STD possibilities, but so far, so good. This will be a continuing issue though. How do you plan to deal with that? I am not physical with him in any way. I have not been for over a year now.

What are your husband’s feelings about the children? We (the children and I) are like possessions to him. Not treasured possessions. He likes the “look” of being a family man to his friends, but he does not spend quality time with them. Everything is on his terms.

Sounds like he bullies you into not staying at home.

That said, with your qualifications, (in another town) you could start over, but if alone, I understand, you would still be working. I would be happy to move away, if I could: (1) Get a divorce, and have the children have no contact with him, (2) Find a good job in another part of the country, (3) The job would relocate us there.

I worry greatly about the drinking with children in the car. Please don’t let that happen again. I know it is hard, if they need to be taken back and forth to school, but he mustn’t be allowed to drink and drive.
I do not allow this to happen. This is one of the many reasons, I can not get a divorce. Because he can not be trusted alone with the children.

Again, do you have any support system at all? Friends, relatives? I have one friend I can talk to, but no, there is no one who could help me financially or with a place to live, etc.

Lastly, would he agree to move out, pay child support and alimony or would he become angry and abusive? Never, appearances are very important to him, he would never want anyone to know that he has issues.
My thought here is that the children are affected by his drinking. At the young age they are, I have so far been able to protect them. Not sure how much longer that will work.

Could you stay in the family home with the children, while he possibly gets more help for his drinking and sexual behaviors? No, because that would “blow his cover” (see above.)

Hi Miracle,

I’m still praying for you and thinking of you often. I am dealing with issues of an affair and lying, and have often wondered if he has a drinking problem as I know that excessive drinking has been involved in all his bad decisions and he has started drinking alone now that we are separated - not good with a family history on both sides of alcoholism for him.

Anyway, I do not know exactly what you are going through first hand but my cousin went through something similar. she was a very educated woman and living a very good life, big house, raising her children Catholic, and everything seemed perfect until her husband developed a drinking and gambling problem and she found out he drank and drove the children somewhere. She had no idea he even had these issues at the time as people often can hide alcoholism and become experts at lying and hiding themselves.

Now I know your situation is not the same, but she ended up getting a divorce and has full custody of her children because of his drinking issues. Her husband moved out of state now and sees the children only for a few days here and there from my understanding over holidays/summer. Her children are much better for their experience. I often wonder how a divorce will affect my children and I know it will no matter what … but when I see how her children are coping, it gives me great hope. They are so loving and sensitive because of what they have been through and are very appreciative of their mom and respect her strength. You can just see it.

So if you do decide that an annulment and divorce is the way that you will proceed, good can come out of it. Your children can turn out to be loving and sensitive children and you will be showing them how to be strong and respect themselves.

I also understand that the “business” and things associated with divorce makes it much more difficult than it seems - like not being able to protect your children from his drinking, or the financial strain and lack of support. I HIGHLY recommend you check out a group called “Divorce Care”. I’m not promoting divorce but it’s always good to educate yourself about possible outcomes and what is really involved. They are a Christian based support group all over the country and you don’t have to be divorced to go. I went - and I’m not and I can’t tell you how wonderful it was. They talk about things from a Christian perspective and give you practical advice about certain situations and teach you how to forgive or about reconciliation if that’s possible. It’s very concrete advice but also spiritual. So it’s worth a shot. I always felt better coming out of the meetings and felt like I actually wanted to be more patient with my husband and more trusting of God and that although he did not want for this pain to happen - he can use it as an opportunity for the benefit of me and my relationship with Him and others. So please look into that for yourself. It will give you support and it’s virtually free. I think it was only the cost of the workbook which was like $15 or so.

I also recommend contacting alcoholics anonymous because they recommend family members to attend their meetings so you can get advice on how to help him and how to deal with it yourself. I would think it’s especially helpful to talk to those that have felt like your husband has and see what helped them overcome the problems associated with their drinking and how they overcame their denial / lying to themselves.

I know you said your husband was open to going to marriage counseling but was just going through the motions. Keep at it even if it doesn’t seem to be helping. I did retrouvaille (a catholic program available all over the country and they probably would be flexible if you told them about your financial situation). It didn’t seem to help at the time but in retrospect I think it is helping us tremendously, it’s just take a bit for everything to settle in and make sense.

In the meantime, I will keep praying for you to have wisdom, strength, peace and love. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I was told that by not asking others for help, you may be denying them the grace and opportunity to help someone. I never thought about it that way, but it makes sense.

My prayers are with you!!! HUGS Just remember that nobody is born strong, we become strong - with God’s grace. You will get through this and know that God can turn into something good for you if you listen to Him.
