Miracle of the Sacred Fire in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre

As much as I would like to think this is a legitimate miracle, given that it would be a pretty awesome one if it is, there are simply too many ways this could be faked for me to take it seriously. This is made doubly troubling by the fact that no one is allowed to witness the actual lighting. Secrecy and miracles rarely go hand in hand.

If it is real, then that’s amazing, and I hope God forgives my ignorance.

If it’s not real then… well, I’m not sure. Exposing it as a hoax at this point would probably damage the faith of a lot of people in the Orthodox community. Considering how celebrated this event is among them, I don’t want to see their faith suffer on account of it being a hoax.
