The unborn baby’s disease had put both the baby’s and the mother’s life at risk – the child is now a healthy, growing girl — and her miraculous life is attributed to the prayers of Paul VI.

The Catholic Church has approved this miracle–and because of this, Pope Paul VI, who died in 1978, can now be canonized as a Catholic saint.

I’m always happy to welcome a new saint, but it does seem like Popes are either getting fast-tracked or we’ve had a run of extraordinarily holy ones.

I personally would like to see Pope Leo XIII and Pope Benedict XV at least have an open cause.
