Hello everyone,

Just wanted to thank those of you who have or had prayed for my wife & I in my previous thread “Please pray for a devastated man.” In the past 3.5 months I have experienced what I consider to be several miracles which I would like to share.

After my wife admitted to a year long affair which ended about a year and a half ago, we decided that we would work through our issues and fully commit ourselves to God. Since that time we have undergone Catholic faith based counseling both individually and as a couple, have attended Marriage Encounter, read countless books, scripture, and prayed together. We have laughed, cried, dated again, and learned to fall in love all over. We have faithfully attended Mass, adoration chapel, and done much self as well as couple introspection.

The first miracle occurred when my wife became Catholic after 23 years of being on the outskirts. She went to Confession and received the Sacrament of Confirmation (with me as her sponsor). She did this all on her own and for the right reasons. The second miracle is the speed at which the Holy Spirit has worked the healing process for both of us and the maturing of our faith as well as divine insight He has allowed us to receive by being purified through humiliation. God shook us to our core to get our attention but we are both much different and much better people for having gone through such an ordeal. I have learned that God will put the right scripture verse, person, book, Mass reading, or whatever is needed at exactly the right time to get you through this. The Blessed Mother has been by my side every step of the way as well. I have learned to trust God implicitly. I have learned that true trust means not trusting your feelings as they are probably wrong and sent from the evil one to make you second-guess what you are doing. Most importantly, I have learned to love in a pure, non lust filled, more humble Christ-like way and to rely on my faith. That very faith took me from suicidal thoughts to the joy of today.

Lastly, the third miracle will occur, God willing, tomorrow as we renew our vows as Catholics receiving the Sacrament of Marriage for the first time via a validation ceremony. We were both married in the Protestant church. To truly treat this God-given second chance with the reverence it deserves, my wife and I attended pre-Cana classes to truly learn about God’s miraculous plan for marriage. We are soon to become Sacrament!

People, if you would have told me almost four months ago that any of this would ever happen l would have said you were nuts. God has truly taken an ugly thing and shown us how a child-like trust in him can repair even the most heinous of situations. Tomorrow my wife and I will be the most prepared, mature, joy-filled couple to ever receive the Sacrament. We have worked really hard to get to this point. Please pray for us as we move forward, pray for all married and engaged couples, and especially distressed couples so that they stay the course, don’t give up, and live joy-filled lives through Christ. I would also like to request special prayers for couples who are recovering from the nightmare of infidelity and by name for “dreamisover” as well as “homemakermommie” and all others on these forums. I truly beleive that we are supposed to lift each other up with as much support as possible. Several months ago in the wee hours of many nightmare filled sleepless nights this forum did just that.

Thanks to all of you and thanks be to God.

How wonderful!~ What a beautiful testimony to the healing touch of God. Thanks for giving such an honest heartfelt testimony. May God bless you both abundantly and I have prayed for your intentions.

Mary.

Thanks everyone, it’s official: We are now Sacrament! What an amazing experience to feel the Holy Spirit’s presence during our ceremony. We worked very hard to get to this day & at times I thought it was not possible. Those are human thoughts because with God, ALL things are possible! If anyone is going through this PLEASE trust God to get you through it. You both will come out better than you were before.

Your Brother in Christ,

HollowGhost
