Miracles in the modern world

One thing I have noticed and would appreciate a counter point to are that in the Bible or biblical times there were constant miracles happening of a major accord I.e anything Jesus did, smiting of cities, floods, sauls conversion to Christianity, etc… why are they not happening or does it seem a lot less frequent and also on a much smaller scale? My fear is the answer is due to science explaining more and more but I don’t want that to be the answer because I am trying hard to believe and it frightens me!!! I’m really trying to rekindle my beliefs and having a hard time so thank you for anyone who takes the time to read and respond!
 
I guess I should mention the Eucharistic miracles and Fatima but it’s hard I’m feeling a lot like the apostle Thomas and I don’t want to. My mind strays to what if the Vatican falsified the flesh or what if Fatima was a mass hallucination but I really want to believe and am plagued by very skeptical thoughts.

I too used to be worried that science would someday “disprove” Christianity. I’m not worried anymore. The book Miracles by CS Lewis might help you. It’s really good!
 
Generally, the modern mindset wishes for everything to be explainable. One of the reason that it doesn’t seem like there are as many miracles in the world today is that everything that happens is attempted to be explained away as natural occurrence. A scientific explanation for a miracle is sought generally in a desperate attempt to not have to acknowledge a power greater than the human mind. Many of the ‘scientific explanations’ I have been given for certain miracles simply don’t hold water when looked at closely, and yet those who wish for a finite world in which the human role is clearly defined cling to these explanations, whether plausible or not.

I don’t think there is less or smaller miracles in the world today. I simply think the majority of the world has forgotten how to identify miracles (whether willfully or due to ignorance).
