Miracles Less and less grand

Why is it that going from the pst to the present, miracles are less and less over the top and grand and in your face, so to speak. By this I mean we went from the big miracles and constant overt involvements of God in the OT to Saints in the first few centuries to Medieval times constantly working miracles to modern miracles. Excepting the big miracle at Fátima, of course. I personally have thought it is because God was using those miracles to confirm his message and those days of the grand and frequent miracles are gone. I was wondering if anybody else had theories or Church explanations regarding this?
 
For example, I remember reading The Secret of the Rosary (Made me a lot more appreciative of Mary and the Rosary btw) and if you have read that, you will know it is full of Rosary related miracle stories that make you say wow if only that could happen to me and I wonder why that isn’t happening now.
 
Do you think its because the means of communication (and storage of history) have been democritised and no longer in the control of authority structures with their own spin.

Camera’s don’t make it any easier for them to “pull the wool” either.

“Miracles” decline as science advances and credulity declines.
 
There’s a semi-decent chance that “We were in the desert 40 years and the Lord sustained us on mana from heaven” probably originated as “We were in the desert for a very long time (maybe a whole fortnight!) and the Lord sustained us as very few died.”

The core truth remains but the details became a little hyperbolic as a relatively small group of people were in control of that information.

Burden of proof is higher, so it’s harder to sell BS.
 
After the miracle of the resurrection, nothing could be grander and necessary.
 
It could be that not everyone who receives a miracle wants to discuss it publicly.
 
It could also be our general lack of faith these days. Recall that Jesus several times could not give a sign or work a miracle in certain towns because of their lack of faith.

Or was that simply the explanation interjected by the Gospel editor to explain a perceived dissonance in his material.
