Somone pointed out to me, that the miracles that have occured in the icons, etc, are more like magic tricks (crying Mary, bleeding Jesus, rosaries changing colors, etc.) and Jesus never did magic tricks. All his miracles, and those of his disciples, did miracles that benefited someone physically (ie. healed the sick, raised the dead, fed the hungry, etc.). These may indicate the “miracles” were not of God. If you believe they are of God, why do you think they are of a different sort than those performed in the New Testament?

Which do you doubt, the authority of the Church or the goodness of God? If it is the Church who has declared certain supernatural events to be miracles, than know that the Church is infallible; if it is the Lord who works miracles for His ineffable plans, than know that God is Love and all of His works are crowned with His Mercy.

Well, they are different because Jesus is no longer here to do those miracles, however healing miracles do occur. I cannot provide examples at the moment, but research the topic and you will find what I mean.
The only example I can think of is Lourdes, France. Many people have been healed there.

Look at other miracles, though. For example, the Eucharistic Miracles are not “magic” tricks. Those are for real.

NT miracles still occur, but not in the form that your friend would like.

You’re picking up on a few ‘signs’ that have not even been declared miracles by the Church, and ignoring miracles like the healings at Lourdes?

Try to explain it to a person that is not sure if the Catholic Church is infallible or is the only Church of God… I definitly don’t doubt the goodness of God, just human interpretation of what is of God, or what is “his church.”

Also, watch my Magisterium video on Youtube.
My channel is “onecatholicchurch”. Take a look at it sometime. I think it explains why the Church can interpret Scripture very well. (But then again, I made it! 🙂 )
