Hi! I’ve submitted this question to the Expert Forums but I am curious as to what you all think . . .

WHat is your take on Miracles in and outside of the Catholic Church?

It is my understanding for a miracle - say, a medical miracle - to be certified as such, it must not only be “medically inexplicable,” but “miraculous,” which is to say, the result of intercessory prayer.

My question then is what about “medically inexplicable” miracles that happen to Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists, and other good people (and even bad people!)? From the Church’s standpoint, since these wouldn’t be certified miracles (and not the result of intercessory prayer), would they just remain “medically inexplicable?” Or may a Catholic believe that God can heal non-Catholics?

I think God can heal anyone he wants to heal.
Would a Jew not pray to god for healing in the face of sickness?

I’m not sure all healing (esp. that done by a team of doctors) is obtained through a God given miracle.

Of course, many people know a Christian or two 😛

I am not sure that miraculous is the result of intercessory prayer. It is my understanding that a medical miracle takes place when a cure is impossible.
