I have been going back and forth about posting on this. Weeks ago when I was making more fervent steps in my faith exploration, I met with a priest. We talked a bit, but the time was short. As I was leaving, a little old lady stopped me and insisted that I go to mass with her. Off I went. Afterward, I spoke with the lady for a while. We spoke on journeys of faith and also the church. She spoke for a while on St. Jude and guardian angels whom she claimed could intercede and even walk among us. It gave me a few areas to research. The conversation continued on varied topics before she started asking questions about me. As I was rubbing my eye, she asked about it. I told her that I had diesel fuel splash in it as a child and have long had an uneven lens and a cataract due to that. I also mentioned that I was far-sighted in one eye and near-sighted in the other. She said that she would pray for me and we departed. The next day, I went to an allergist who thought it might be a good idea to try to see an ophthalmologist as well. Oddly enough, upon checking, I found an opening right after my other appointment and with one of the top ophthalmologists in the country. My eyes were screen by technician and 2 doctors. They told me that my lens was “pristine”, the cataract was gone, and I had 20/20 vision. Two days before, I needed my glasses to find my way to an interview. Now, they only blur things. I have been prodded to tell the priest, but I have yet to do so. I have been trying to find the little old lady who prayed for me, but I haven’t seen her since. This whole experience has encouraged me to continue exploring. Sorry about being long-winded.

Does anyone have thoughts on this? Has anyone ever heard of this happening with others? It seems apparent to me that miracles do happen. It seems sometimes it is for generally healing. Perhaps other times, it is for faith.

They sure do…I had an instantaneous eye healing from and eye injury from a brother laying hands on me…I had a three day healing from a fall in a clawfoot tub…I know someone healed from cancer…I’ve had quite a few miraculous happenings with other areas…He’s there in the everyday and He’s there in situations that seem impossible…May the Lord bless and guide you in your faith journey…

It would appear that you have indeed been blessed with a miracle. Praise God.
I would also suggest taht you contact the priest and tell him - and let him know you are looking for this woman to thank her…He might know who she is and how to contact her.

Thank you for sharing this.

Peace
James

Praise God for your miracle of healing! Prayers for your continued journey of faith.
God bless you,
mlz

What a wonderful miracle! Thank you so much for sharing. The Bible does say that sometimes we entertain angels… (and maybe even the Master in disguise). Praise God, and thank you for building our faith with your true life experience. God bless you.

BTW…Welcome…I love visiting christian forums and learning more about my brothers and sisters from other churches…

Awesome testimony! Sure can use a miracle for my son with autism-he is 15 living with his father out of state. He has regressed with his high-functioning autism to where his father is talking about putting him in a state home-I am very heartbroken and against it-he has aspergers, I also have mild aspergers and was hoping that my son would have done well similar to me. I have two other children at home-and am in the air force reserves and a veteran-yet very troubled about my son-seeking a miracle for him-asking for prayers-thanks-laura

Wow- praise be to God! That’s awesome!

I would definitely contact that priest. I think the Holy Spirit is ‘nagging’ you to do so. God bless!

I think that I will certainly follow-up with a priest and soon. I very recently became unemployed which has given me additional time for exploration. I’ll go to the church tomorrow.

Also, lauraabarlow, I have a brother who is autistic as well. He had a lot of issues but has made a lot of progress. He’s 21 and in college. I’ve been working with him on social skills, and it has seemed to work quite well. Faith is important. I will pray for him.

God can use ordinary everyday people to bring healing to those they prayer for.

This happened over a decade ago, but the experience has remained in my memory, as I was the unworthy vessel God used. A woman in my parish prayer cenacle revealed after one of our meetings, that she had found a large lump in her one breast. A mammogram confirmed a solid mass present. She was having a biopsy the next morning to confirm if the mass was cancerous or not, and asked for prayers. Several of us were Catholic Charismatics, including two Daughters of Charity from the nearby Provincial House. We offered to lay hands on the woman and pray over her. Now I was familiar with the Charismatic gifts, I taught Life in the Spirit Seminars and had been very active in the Charismatic Renewal as a young adult. But that night I would experience a charism I had never experienced before, and never have since.

As we prayed over the woman, I was given a vision known as a ‘Picture Prophecy’. Prophecy means “message”,and it doesn’t always refer to the future. I really struggled yielding to it, as it made no sense to me. The whole experience was making me feel anxious, what if wasn’t from God? I had to discern the spirits, and determine which spirit was behind the vision. I realized eventually that the Holy Spirit had a message for this woman, and I was the one to reveal it, uncomfortable though I was. I yielded. “I see a mass in your breast, dissolving”, I told her. One of the daughters of Charity confirmed the picture prophecy.

After Mass the next morning, I stayed in the church to make my usual Holy Hour. As I left the church upon finishing, I happened to meet the woman from the previous night. Her face was full of joy, she was on her way into the church to offer a prayer of thanksgiving. She came up to me and excitedly said to me, “It’s just like you said last night, everything happened exactly like you prophesied!” It seems that when the doctor inserted the biopsy needle into the lump in her breast, that the lump simply vanished. Gone. All I could think was “Wow! Praise God!”. I went home feeling goosebumps. The experience was so powerful that it left me humbled, though she was clearly uplifted.

Our pastor was at our cenacle, and witnessed the prayers and prophecy, and he was informed of what occurred the next morning. As others suggested; inform the priest, and if you can locate the lady, inform her as well. While physical healings can happen, through the Sacraments, the devout use of sacramentals and prayer; far more common are the spiritual healings. Some have experienced both. Saying a thanksgiving prayer for you. 🙂

I too have mild Aspergers. Has anything changed in your son’s life recently? Has he been under any stress or pressure? Has his routine been disrupted at home or at school? Something is causing him to regress, finding out what can be liking finding a needle in a haystack. I know it might be difficult for you, with you being in the reserves, and your son with his father in another state. Has his father done anything other than talk about placing him in a state home? I will pray that your son improves, and/or that the situation that has led to his regression is resolved.

Hi-I am not sure other than when Kenny visited last summer, he said that his dad was talking about putting him in a home when he is 18-I was mad for I wouldn’t be bringing that up to him. Yet-being in another state and everything, other than being in therapy and seeing a doctor, I am not sure if I really have much to stand on. Made it clear that I want him to stay in the family-and not understanding why he is bringing this up to Kenny. My ex is blaming Kenny’s visit here in SC as something happening that caused him to regress. I went to base legal on base during my reserve weekend to get information on some pro-bono assistance for the state of MS. Thank goodness I have some extra access being military. I am not going to lie but feel very burdened with worry and concern over my son’s situation. And feeling pangs of guilt, too being that I somehow made it in life despite my rough start in life-didn’t talk until age 3 and a half with serious sensory issues yet somehow overcame and even got into the air force with 5 waivers (didn’t know I had mild autism when I entered). Been in nearly 23 yrs between active and reserves when going for disability for my right eye that I have mild aspergers (yes-when filing disability-they send you for everything, not just one thing). I am no miracle story yet long for one for my son, whose prognosis is poor. My ex said because he was in special ed self-contained classes instead of regular classes, it’s too late for him-he will not function in regular classes-he is blaming me and said if Kenny had lived with him instead from 2002 onward-he wouldn’t be in this situation. Even a woman involved with autistic kids said that. I am feeling very bad, now-I on the other hand as a child growing up in Ohio went to catholic schools and was in regular classes outside of remedial reading in grade school. Spent 2 yrs in a catholic school for special kids which was a positive thing for me-somehow gave me tools and extra help and support for when I went back to regular school in sixth grade (spent 4th and 5th grade at that school-a very positive experience for me). With my son-I have tried working with the school in getting Kenny the best help I can. When he was with me-I had him in cross-category classes-his teacher wasn’t too supportive. Also had him in cub scouts and boy scouts to help him socially-he really seemed to be making good progress and even had a wonderful sense of humor along the way. Now my ex is blaming me for messing Kenny up-saying if he had had Kenny in his early years-he wouldn’t be behind like he is-it’s too late for him. Wasn’t able to sleep last night-must go to work today at the air base and hope to be able to focus-very troubled yet seeking legal help-think maybe Kenny may need to come back here or his dad needs to just focus on what he can to help Kenny out-not on three yrs from now and him not being able to function on his own. My son really needs a miracle and hopefully soon-thanks for responding back-I really am praying for a miracle for my son-oh-last year-he was making good progress with his father-not sure why after visiting he regressed-so troubled about the whole thing. Thanks-Laura

I forgot to mention that Kenny lived with his father since Dec, 2008 and visited for the first time in May of 2010-for three wks-since returning, he wanted to come back to live with me and has been acting out hoping his dad will send him back-he really needs to work with his dad, not fight him-only talked a few times with Kenny on my ex-s terms 😦

lauraabarlow, I just wanted to let you know I am praying for you. If you haven’t already, I would post in the prayer intentions forum and ask for prayers for your son. I also have a son who is gifted and talented with mild Aspergers. Sometimes when he was really having trouble, it helped to have our priest lay hands on him and say a healing prayer. Also, if your diocese has healing masses, next time he visits bring him to one. God bless.

That is an amazing story. And thanks be to God that you’ve been healed!

I never really believed in “miracles” per se, until very recently. My husband broke his leg a couple of months ago, and has had severe difficulty walking in his new boot since the cast came off a couple of weeks ago. He’s not a church-goer, but I did talk him into attending Easter Vigil with me. The entire Mass, I was praying, Mother Mary, let him be comfortable. Just let him not hurt during this very long service.

When we walked out, he looked at me with the most puzzled expression, and said, “Hey, look at this! I can walk!” and was able to taked unaided steps on his boot for a few steps with no pain. He’s switched to a cane for walking now and only uses the crutches for late night bathroom trips (when he doesn’t feel like putting the boot on).

It’s not quite as miraculous as your story, but it’s still pretty cool.

Thank you, my son sure can use all the prayers and miracles-I really feel somewhat guilty that he has all these major issues and me-who once had major issues overcame and served in the air force with high-functioning mild aspergers (suspected but didn’t know it until much later in my career). My son should be living his dreams, too-I really feel awful and cried many tears over the thought of him probably going into a state home-when he lived with me, he was very high-functioning and making excellent progress. Unfortunately, his doctor and therapists in MS isn’t even making contact to get my side of the story. Just going by what his dad says-and how he is acting-he really misses me and I think out of a broken spirit, and lack of understanding he is acting out. Need good pro-bono lawyer, if I can find one in MS. Maybe my VA disability claim will come through soon and I can use that money to hire a good lawyer-I know one good lawyer in MS that I can trust-thanks for the encouragement and God Bless! 😊

That’s still cool, Stavros. It comes down to being a gift from God.

Also lauraabarlow, try to have faith. It can be difficult, but I will pray for that as well for you.

As an update, I did go to visit one of the priests from the church today. He was very happy to hear the news. He didn’t know who the lady was though. He did say what a number of people have suggested in that she may have been a guardian angel. I can’t say that I’m necessarily convinced by that thought, but I can’t argue with the results.

That could have been the trigger, or one of several triggers, that led to him regressing. You can’t blame yourself over this though. You have a special needs child who is going through adolescence and puberty; being on the spectrum he has difficulty comprehending social cues, and he probably misses being with you tremendously. My worst years were when I was around his age (and I didn’t learn I had Aspergers until I was past 40). Saint Ubaldo Baldassini is the patron of autistics and autism. Perhaps we could ask him to intercede before the throne of God on behalf of Kenny, that God might be merciful towards him and put a halt to his regression; and bring His healing touch to him, that Aspergers not continue to afflict him so much. Saint Ubaldo Baldassini, pray for those who Autism Spectrum Disorders, especially Kenny who has been regressing after much progress. May God, through your intercession, put a halt to his regression, and heal him of whatever triggers have led to this. Amen. Pray when you can, ask Ubaldo to pray when you can’t. Praying for your son, and for you too.

👍 Don’t you just love God?! So cool. Sure miracles happen, all the time actually. I’d be here all night if I just told the ones I know about from my own life and my own Parish. Just that I know about, its not like I knew everyone and they all told their personal stories.

*Thank you, Lord, for sending the healing Holy Spirit to DElias, Glory to You, Lord.

Thank you Clay Pots and everyone else for your prayers-I too learned that I have mild aspergers while going through the VA disability screening for my eye and other various areas including my “adhd” which was later changed to aspergers. I have trouble even with vocalizing my needs, asking for help, and everything-I trust God to know in my heart what I long for even when I have trouble putting into words prayer requests and everything. I feel guilty being that I got the right help and resources in the 70s to help me make it in life, and even serve in the air force (and still do in the reserves) while my precious son is bearing the whole brunt of set backs. Maybe I need to go seek legal advice and maybe legal action on possibly getting him back at a later time after finding out whether or not I am getting VA disability-I trust that God will somehow point me in the right direction (if I don’t miss the cues)…Like you, Clay Pots-I was 45 when I learned that I have aspergers, which explains my son’s disability. My own father also blames my parenting on causing Kenny’s disability-like he forgot what I went through as a child myself! I know that in the end, all things tend to work out for the greater good. Thanks for all the prayers and support-and for being Kenny’s voice in ways that I am unable to be-thank you from the bottom of my heart. :blessyou::grouphug:
