Miraculous medal without back side?

I went to Confession today (may God be praised), and I asked the priest if he could give me a Scapular and Rosary.

He walks into the back and comes out with a miniature Brown Scapular with what looks like a miniature Miraculous Medal attached.

However, the metal feels like aluminum and it does not contain the back side with the Cross and the Marian M, it only contains the image of Our Lady of Lourdes dispensing Graces.

My question is: is this a sacramentally valid Medal?

Furthermore, the priest, when I went to confess, did not give me a penance nor tell me to say the Act of Contrition.

If the medal doesn’t have a back side, then it isn’t a complete miraculous medal. If it is an image of Our Lady of Lourdes, then it isn’t intended to be a miraculous medal at all.

Yes, your Confession was still valid, but the priest is bound by Canon Law to prescribe a penance. Since he didn’t give you a penance, you should do a penance of your own accord.
