I hope this is in the correct forum.

Can anyone recommend a good site to buy Miraculous Medals? I have an idea of the kind of design I am after. See the design here on this page: chastitysf.com/treatreq.htm#t3

Anyway, if anyone knows where you can buy (stirling) silver medals of an attractive design, I’d be most grateful if you could advise me. I find many of the medals images are not terribly well done.

The best ones come from France…

🙂

I would recommend browsing through eBay (you might have to keep looking for a while until you find something you like).

Or try here:

getfed.com/discount-catholic/156/Miraculous-Medals/?aid=895

I like Get Fed, they’re so friendly and they accept PayPal.

If you have a Catholic gift shop near you, stop by and look at their Miraculous medals. If you don’t see one you like, let the owner know. They might place a special order for you.

I understand about medals with shallow engraving and smooshed features. When I was searching for a scapular medal I looked for a long time to find one with recognizable and deeplt engraved features of Jesus and Mary. Same also when I was looking for a St. Andrew medal - so many of the ones I came across looked like they were molded rather than engraved, and could be any human figure at all.

If you’re in a hurry to find something, you probably will be forced to settle for something less than ideal, but that’s the same for just about anything, right?

Ebay and ‘Saved Searches’
Set up a ‘Saved Search’ for ‘scapular miraculous’ two medals in one…very beautiful, quite rare(not many offered/made), affordable and special.

So your wearing the Scapular medal and Miraculous medal. Has meaning
but in reality to wear the scapular medal in lieu of the brown scapular you have to have an outstanding special reason. Still no reason not to have a medal with both though.

So your wearing the Scapular medal and Miraculous medal.
Actually the Blessed Virgin Mary gave Sister Catherine Laboure a vision of both the front side of the Miraculous Medal and the back side. The front contains Mary standing on a globe crushing the head of a serpent under her foot and the back is the M and 12 stars and two hearts.

So one can’t really wear a medal and call it a Miraculous medal if both sides are not as the Blessed Virgin Mary instructed.

Since I’m allergic to wool I wear the scapular medal and a Miraculous Medal. I’ve also got a crucifix and a St. Michael medal on the same chain with the scapular medal and MM. I tend to jingle when I walk.

What does any of this have to do with me and a quote?
Yeah, there might be some inauthentic medals out there, I havent run across any.

Its a dual medal, two medals side by side.
They dont hardly make em’ any other way.

As a past collector, I have 6 or more different styles of this dual medal(own at least 10), and none has a deficiency or shows only one side. They are beautiful, unique and appreciated by many Catholics, most of whom never heard of this dual medal possibility.

I buy leather cord, hang a Benedict cross, this dual medal(a soldiers scapular miraculous medal, WWII era) and my army dog tags around my neck, all on one cord. The dog tags indicate I’m a catholic and other particulars. I am heavily involved in getting wet with ocean activity so the scapular is warranted and should I die in heavy surf, the dog tag will serve for quick identification.

Well, let’s not get all in a twist. I quoted you because your post was the one that referred to the two-medals-in-one.

To me, noting that there is no voice on a message board, it sounded like you were referring to one medal with one side part Miraculous and one side scapular.

You said yourself, that “most of whom never heard of this dual medal possibility.” So the fact that it is not common could indicate that someone may misunderstand what you were talking about.

Now that you have come back and explained it as two medals side-by-side. I understand what you are talking about - I think.

Please do not take offense where none was meant.

Please dear, look these up on Ebay, squash your confusion, and leave the calming talk and me out of the conversation.

Thank you very much

Hi folks, thanks for your tips. Get Fed looks good. EWTN is perfect… except I am in the UK and they charge a premium on top of regular shipping so it makes it prohibitively expensive, I think. I’ll keep looking!

You can get a Miraculous Medal in most any Catholic supply store.

I recommend EWTN’s religious catalog…

ewtnreligiouscatalogue.com/

Also, Leaflet Missal Company has medals, rosaries, and crucifixes galore…

Have you heard about the Virgin of the Globe medal? It’s related to the Miraculous medal.
It’s based on the first phase of the apparition of the Blessed Mother Mary to St. Catherine Laboure on Nov. 27, 1830.

To understand the story of the “Virgin of the Globe/Virgin Most Powerful” please read “St. Catherine Laboure of the Miraculous Medal” by Father Joseph Dirvin. Pay particular attention to Chapter VIII- The Apparition of the Miraculous Medal. Also recommend “The Life of Catherine Laboure” by Rene Laurentin. Pay particular attention to Cahpter 5 and Chapter 7.

God bless.

The Association of the Miraculous Medal (based in Missouri and is the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal) is a great organization that I have been a member of for several years. They publish a superb newsletter and have a wide selection of medals on their website.
