The Archbishop of San Francisco of ROCOR has given a blessing to allow the 2 Miraculous Myrrh Streaming Icons from the ROCOR Church in Hawaii to become “traveling” icons for the blessings and benefits of all laity.

orthodoxhawaii.org/icons.html - this website shows pictures of the Icons and also has the story from the Reader in whose home the icons began flowing myrrh.

**The two miraculous icons will be visiting our local Church here in Sacramento, CA, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on 8/14/2008 and on 8/15/2008 in honor of the Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Theotokos (Mother of God aka the Blessed Ever-Virgin Mary). **
Anyone who wishes to receive a blessing from the miraculous myrrh is welcome to come.

To Non-Christians: Do you believe that this miracle could possibly be true? Would you be willing to come to see the Icons yourself when they come to a Church near you? Have you seen any miracles like this from your own religious tradition?

To Protestants: What do you think about this latest miracle? Will you come to see the Icons and to be blessed by the myrrh when they visit a Church near you?

To Catholics: What do you make of this miracle? Will be make an ecumenical visit to an Orthodox Parish near you to visit these icons and to be blessed by the myrrh?

To Orthodox: Isn’t this exciting? Have they already come to your Church or do you know when they will be coming?

I’m Old Catholic, and if the icons are anywhere near me, I will do my best to make a slight pilgrimage to them.

Wonderful. Perhaps on the website, it may list where and when the Icons are traveling or may at least have the Church’s contact information so you can make an inquiry.

(I’ve always heard about Old Catholics in my studies, but never until now came across a live one! Please refresh my memory: your Church broke away from Rome because your Church did not agree with the Church of Rome’s new doctrine of Papal Infallibility?)

I’m checking the website to see if I find that information. If someone else does, please post up where you found it.

Christy, the Old Catholics do reject the “dogma” of papal infallibility. That doctrine has never, in our opinion, actually been elevated to the level of dogma because it has never been declared by an Ecumenical Council as such. I wouldn’t say the Old Catholics “broke away from Rome”… Many Old Catholics see it the other way around. Ultimately I don’t like to collectivize people, however, and tend to look at them individually. I’ve come across many Roman Catholics who think very much like Old Catholics.

You are correct…They broke away from you not the other way around. I’d imagine that would be a sour spot like it is for the Orthodox who also see that the Roman Catholic Church broke away from them not the other way around. I apologize as it was not my intent for it to come out that way.

Very interesting though! I’m glad to have met you!

One of my co-workers: a Korean Catholic is going to let his priest know about the Miraculous Icons and so much, if not all, of the Korean Catholic Church of Sacramento will likely join us for worship and veneration of the Icons! Hurray!

I’ll try keep updated about the icons as I would love to visit and see them for myself.

This is slightly inaccurate, only the miraculous myrrh-streaming icon of the Mother of God will be travelling to Sacramento, the myrrh-streaming Holy Cross always remains at the Russian Orthodox Church in Hawaii for the benefit of all the faithful.
