Hi Amanda,

I am sorry for your loss. I had a miscarraige in Feb. It was truly devestating. We tried for over 4 years to have a baby, so when I finally got pregnant, we were thrilled beyond belief. I will never forget the joy I felt or the thanksgiving that brought me to tears at mass when I learned that I was pregnant. Well, we lost the baby at 9 weeks. About 6 weeks ago I lost my second baby from an ectopic pregnancy.

Some days are really hard and I felt so betrayed by God after my first loss. Then friend reminded me that we live in a fallen world. We have free will and with that we get the bad with the good even if we ourselves have done nothing to deserve it. Sometimes it is just the laws of nature.

I am doing better with the sporitual sides of things with this second loss, but still grieve both children heavily.

Anyway, a friend sent me these links which I find very helpful

I am so very very sorry for your loss, Amanda. I too have suffered through miscarriages - I know how heartbreaking it is. I will say a prayer for you & your husband and your precious child.

May he/she rest in the arms of our dear Savior until you meet again.

With my deepest sympathy,
CM

We lost our first baby in a miscarriage a week ago, and I was wondering if any of you could offer advice about this. It is very hard to deal with and now I am very afraid of getting pregnant again and the same thing happening. I feel like I am OK and then I will suddenly get very emotional–I started crying at the Eucharist in mass Sunday, thinking about how the last time I was at mass I had a little person with me. I know that many people deal with this, but it just isn’t talked about much. It is SO hard, because we wanted this baby so much.
My heart goes out to you.

My wife and I lost our first the day before Mother’s Day 1993. Boy that was hard, I had just given my wife a Mother’s day card, I could wait till the next day.

We were barely pew wammers back then and we were Cafeteria Catholic back then. The whole issue of abortion change right in front of me, by the easy come easy go attitude I experience from many people because the baby was only a few months along. We also really wanted that baby.

I was a wreck for Fathers Day and even though I am one of those show no emotions type of guy (back then atleast) I cried and cried.

After that, we could not let the fear over come us so after clearing it with the doctor we tried again.

It happend in July and Craig came March of 1994.
It was a good 4 months into the pregnancy before we told anyone, because we still had some fear of it happening again.

Elizabeth came February of 1999.

Now that I look back, I know it was the first in many little steps that brought us back into the fullness of the faith.

Don’t fell ashamed of your sadness, even Jesus cried for his friend’s death. Just don’t let it consume you. Trust in God.

I will pray for you.

I am so sorry. I know the pain. We lost our first child at about 6 weeks.

People will say things that hurt, but most mean well. I know some will say that you can have another, but like me, you want the one that was lost.

It is hard, and you will grieve. It is natural.

God bless.

We lost our first (and very desperately wanted) child earlier this year at 5 weeks. Due date would have been this Christmas Day, and I’d be 5 months along right now, starting to really show, and with a kicking baby in my abdomen. 😦

Who knows what God has planned for either of us. Hopefully we will both be blessed with children who stay with us here on earth. God bless you and your husband. I’ll keep you in my prayers. Just know that there are others like us out there who sympathize, and it does get easier, I promise. I’m still grieving, but it’s easier to hold out hope a few months on.
