I’m addicted to pornography. I’m losing my faith. I told my friends about 2 months ago that I was gay. And… things have only gotten worse since then.

I’m depressed because I don’t want to be alone for the rest of my life, and it doesn’t matter what I do in my life… its almost impossible for me to actually not be alone, unless I find a Catholic Community, or find a boyfriend. If there are any other options that would make me not alone and miserable, please mention them. Or think if there even are any.

Prayer for Addiction to Pornography

Jesus, Lover of chastity,
Mary, Mother most pure,
and Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin,
to you I come at this hour,
begging you to plead with God for me.
I earnestly wish to be pure in thought,
word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity.

Obtain for me, then,
a deep sense of modesty
which will be reflected in my external conduct.
Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul,
from anything that might dim the luster of a heart
that must mirror only Christlike purity.

And when the “Bread of Angels” becomes
the “Bread of Me” in my heart at Holy Communion,
seal it forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures.

Heart of Jesus, Fount of All Purity,
have mercy on us.

Amen.

Prayer in Time of Loneliness

Dear Lord!
Make me remember,
when the world seems cold and dreary
and I know not where to turn for comfort,
that there is always one spot bright and cheerful,
the Sanctuary.
When I am in desolation of spirit,
when all who are dear to me have passed away
like summer flowers
and none are left to love me and care for me,
whisper to my troubled soul
that there is one Friend who dies not,
one who’s Love never changes
Jesus on the altar.
When sorrow thicken and crush me with their burden,
when I look in vain for comfort,
let me remember Your words:
“Come to Me,
all you who labor and are heavily burdened,
and I will refresh you.”

Amen.

A Prayer Against Depression

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

Anyone who suffers deserves prayers and love. We are praying for you. :console:

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit, and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the Earth. Amen.

May God provide you with peace and joy :):)!

:highprayer:

**Dearest Lord,
teach me to be generous;
teach me to serve You as You deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labour and not to ask for reward
save that of knowing I am doing Your Will.

Amen.**

There are many here like you. PLEASE do not give up hope. Keep posting! NEVER give up! If there was ever a place to seek the beginnings of a celibate life, it is here.We all have different crosses to bear, many are just as heavy. I know this is tough if you are young, but with age, things get easier. You DO NOT have to be alone. The bond between good friends can be just as strong if not stronger than bonds we develop in dating or even marriage for some.

Don’t let anything or anyone keep you from trying to stay in the church. Christ, the Queen of Heaven, and the Saints all know of our struggles. You may loose a battle but the war is not over till the throw dirt on the lid, as I like to say. Do good works, pray often, never give into shame, see a councilor if you do not overcome the porn addiction, but above all, never give up. Advice is cheap. Even mine. It is YOUR life, as long as you fight there is hope.

Consider making an appointment with a Priest you feel comfortable with or a Catholic councilor. My prayers are with you.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to his assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Have you ever heard of this guy?: youtube.com/watch?v=PO2xJcrP9aw
Here’s an article about him: nytimes.com/2011/06/19/magazine/my-ex-gay-friend.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 And another: wnd.com/2007/07/42385/

I don’t know what any of us can do for you except pray. There is some evidence that sexual orientation can be relearned. Have you ever considered trying to orient yourself towards women? You’ll never know until you try. Human beings are very complex. They can learn or unlearn behaviors.

I would start by not identifying yourself as “gay”. If your name is Bob and you’re Catholic, then your identity is Bob, a Catholic. Not Gay Bob, a Catholic. Your user name brands you as gay. If you find your orientation a source of distress, stop calling yourself by the distressful names that commit you to something you really don’t want to be.

If a person calls himself “Loser”, I can guarantee that he will be a loser, and everyone will know he is a loser. Call yourself a winner instead even if it seems false at first. People can become what they think they are. You identify yourself as a gay, depressed, Catholic loser. Stop believing that is what you are. You are “Bob”, a Catholic. The Lord loves you, and you are going to go forward one step at a time. Start by tossing all porn. Delete porn from your computer. Don’t look at it anymore, it just fuels the fire and you don’t need that. Fill your mind with wholesome things. And pray always for the Holy Spirit to change your heart.

Brother, my heart grieves for you.

I have no idea if this is a valuable offer, but if it would help you to have someone to correspond with, please message me.

I would be happy to be in touch with you to support you through this difficult time if for no other reason than to give you a friend in Christ to talk to, because you are showing great spirit and courage in confessing your struggles here and professing your desire to lead a chaste and holy life.

I am a married man with a wife and baby but I have done some work helping people online who are suicidal, and I offer you whatever time and dialogue I can to help you, if you are in need of it.

Be strong, Jesus loves you for your love of his will for you and your sins are nothing compared to his mercy.

its like this man…

first, its ok to be depressed. acknowledge it, accept it, welcome it. this is a time in your life you can focus on yourself. enjoy the solitude, use it for introspection. sometimes in life you will be happy and sometimes you will be sad, that’s the way it is, just realize it changes and sometimes for no apparent reason or rhyme.

treat yourself right, meaning, lay off the caffeine and other drugs if your on any. put the alcohol down and go for walks with your favorite music. feel what your feel, don’t shy from it or stuff it away, just feel it. eat better too and drink a lot of water.

there is a saying “stop and drop” meaning stop for a moment, drop your focus from your mind(thoughts) and drop to your belly where your feelings live.

make a list of things you like to do. sounds silly but go to that list daily and do something you like.

put away relationships with others. try not to equate happiness with having a mate or not.

porn and masturbation…sounds like you are using this for relief or a moment of pleasure. all very natural esp when your young and full of hormones. put away the guilt for awhile and all the dogma of the church. your hurting and this is how your dealing with it.

don’t expect to much from yourself, this will only lead to more guild and it will become a visious cycle that will drag you down more. Open yourself up the the Holy Spirit and ask for strength and understanding. just open your self up to the Holy Spirit w/o defining the results. There are things in this world that are greater than you.

Journal if you must, burn the page when your down if you want. Its a way of expressing yourself and helps get things out.

Take a moment sometimes and put yourself in the future, say ten years from now when your happy. And you will be happy again, that’s just how it works. Laugh a big laugh. Just laugh. Don’t focus on anything but laughing. then go back to depression. you deserve alittle break.

Stand up straight when you walk. Look up a class at the nearest school or college or whatever and take something that interest you.

I’ll write more later, but believe me. Ive been there.

I care.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon ssa fellow in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

I hope you have read the post to your concerns and realized the unconditional love that is directed towards you.

feel the power of prayer that is said for you…

but also help yourself. forgive yourself. love yourself unconditionally.

Literally say to yourself " I forgive myself for …" again and again until your mind is at rest. You don’t need to figure out all the answers in life.

all this will take time.

plant flowers in your own garden…meaning if your lonely, join a social club, go to school, go to church and smile at others.

list your good qualities…are you funny? do you have an interest or hobby that others share?

finding love in this life was a huge preoccupation for me too. looking back it was all timing. Now that I found my mate, I laugh at the times I was turned down on a date, rejected or how totally pathetic I looked to others(desperate for a date)

Now I thank those who turned me down, who gossiped or made fun of me. I have met my love and wouldn’t have if I settled for someone else.

Learn to love yourself unconditionally. I had to do that first, then I was ready for my mate, if that makes sense. It took along time and I failed miserably, but now I have my mate and life is great.

Even after you find the love of your life, you will find challenges. Problems, conflict doesn’t go away, they just are a new set of concerns. Life is like that. Get some rest, treat yourself physically good, and learn to speak to yourself in a way that is supportive and loving.

And yes, prayers help. but you do have to work at it.

make sure you update us once in awhile, we care
