Missal help

I have recently begun attending a new traditional parish. I am making vain attempts to follow the Mass (which are usually Sung) in the missal provided by ‘Latin Mass Society’ but I’m struggling as I find myself flitting from page to page or peering over somebody’s shoulder to find out which page I’m supposed to be looking at.

Could anybody offer advice on whether it would be worth purchasing a 1962+ Missal, or am I beter just persevering with the Missal offered?

I am trying to find guides via the internet but find myself becomming even more confused.

If I were you, I’d forgo the use of a missal entirely for at least a few masses, otherwise you’ll just be overwhelmed and distracted trying to keep up. Just follow the behavior of those around you and immerse yourself in the experience. After a couple times you’ll become acquainted with much of the important parts of the Ordo, and then I’d start using a missal again.

Generally if you are an occasional EF go-er, get the cheap red missal booklets, which also in the side margins tells you when to stand and kneel and sit at what masses, and contains the ordinary of the Mass (non-changing parts).

However if you make this a weekly occurence, or have the cash on you, splurge and get a good 1962 Missal. Baronius Press and Angelus Press are the most attainable and can be bought online, though there are some older missals also available such as St. Andrews and Fr. Lassange and a few others from old book shops). One word of caution though, Angelus Press is the printing arm of the Society of St. Pius X. The missal is excellent, but look em up on CAF and the internet to see what they are about. Just saying since you are new to the EF.

Thamk you for your replies. As I am fortunate enough to live 15 mins drive away from a new ICCSP parish, I will be attending Mass weekly so will look at getting a missal.
