Missal Pillow or Stand?

What is more appropriate, a Sacramentary pillow or stand for use on the altar?
 
In our diocese, we use neither. The missal rests on the altar. The altar is clear of all objects except candles, both before the Eucharistic Prayer and after Communion.

Even when a pillow or stand is employed, they would not be on the altar before the EP or after Holy Communion…
