Missal Stands -- To Use or Not to Use?

I’ve never personally seen a missal stand like that at any church I’ve been to. It looks strange to me. Very ornate and detailed on the bottom, but the part that holds the missal is just a plain thin piece of metal.
 
Inn my parish we have a missal cushion what we use for the missal
 
Missal stand and missal cushions do the same job.
