Hi,
Returned to church after a LONG absence. Since the Daily Bread booklets or catholic prayer books don’t have the readings written out, I’m looking for a Missal where I can actually read the liturgy and the scripture readings for that Sunday. I’ve thought about printing them off the lectionary, but only as a last resort. It seems like I shouldn’t have to bring a missal and a bible. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Does your church have missals in the pews? Most of the ones I’ve been to have them; usually for a 3-4 month period. They’ll contain the readings, prayers, all kinds of goodies. Ask your priest, I bet he can point you in the right direction.

Absolutely gorgeous little magazine missal - pocket-sized with more than the readings in them - there’s something in them for every day - I wish I had my first copy unpacked so I could give you some examples - there is a lot of stuff in that little monthly book.

You can request a free issue on their site, which I did - and upon seeing it, I promptly decided that as soon as we arrive in our new city, I will subscribe to Magnificat! 🙂 I’m seeing quite a lot of people in church with them.

The St. Joseph Sunday Missal is printed every year and is pretty cheap.

Magnificat is wonderful, and I’ve heard nothing but praise for it but it’s a little too pricey for my blood. (I got a freebie from a friend.)

St. Joseph also has a weekday missal and a Sunday missal with A, B & C readings. And Our Sunday Visitor has a missal with all the Sunday and weekday readings. But again, those are pretty pricey.

Or maybe I’m just cheap. :ehh:

I love the Magnificat! You not only get the Readings, you get them for every day of the year (books are sent to you monthly).

There is a story about a Saint published every day, plus on days of the feasts of more significant saints there is a brief write-up about them also.

There is a Daily Devotion that is wonderful.

Morning and evening prayers are also included (not LOH).

The complete liturgy, with all variations, and Latin, is included in the middle of the book each month.
