Missed a day doing Novena prayers. Do I have to start it off again?

On the eighth day of the nine, I didn’t do the Novena prayers ( Our Lady of Lourdes), because I was simply too emotionally drained off ( ah! how stupid of me to let personal emotions stop me).

So, do I have to start again from the beginning? Or could I resume it today ( then, tomorrow will be the ninth day which I’d have otherwise,
actually finished it today)?

Not uncommon–we are human and it is an emotionally draining time. Novenas are personal devotions, so there’s no “right” way to do this. If I miss a day I often do two of the Novena prayers in one day to catch up.

Okay !! I was afraid I might be doing something very sinful. Of course, we mere mortals are committing sins everyday but at least we can try and refrain from doing some of them.

Checked into it, thank you!!! I shall be following the third option. Don’t want to cram up two in one day, as I do other prayers too ( such as the Holy Rosary). God bless!! 🙏

It’s a private devotion. You can do as you see fit. If you’d just started — say you missed day two — you might want to start over, but if you missed day seven or eight, the God I know is merciful enough to understand and accept your novena as it is. Again, it’s a private devotion. There is no “one right way” to do a novena.
