Missed Communion twice

I missed communion for 2 weeks. It was due to things like tiredness, but I have to admit I was probably being lazy and didn’t want to get in my car. I want to go sunday, but I know I am in mortal sin now. I looks like theres confessions on saturday so im lucky and am gonna prepare for one tommorow. I need to find a closer parish because the one I go to is kinda far and there are days where the distance of the parish is hard on me.
 
I am glad to hear that you will be back in church on Sunday, but I am confused. Did you not fulfill your obligation to assist at Holy Mass on Sunday or at the Saturday vigil for two weeks or did you just not receive Holy Communion? We are not obligated to receive Holy Communion each time we go to Mass. We want to, of course, but we are only obligated to receive Holy Communion once a year. Our obligation is to assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation. Do you only have communion services in your area and no Mass is available? If no Mass is available to you, then you are excused from this obligation since the Church doesn’t ask us to do what is impossible. If you missed Holy Mass when it was possible for you to go, and you realized that this is grave matter, then you should go to Confession before you go to Communion. However, if you can’t make it to Confession, please don’t miss Mass again and compound your sin. Just don’t go to Communion. It is no one’s business why another person doesn’t receive Holy Communion. Maybe they broke the Communion fast or have an upset stomach. Please don’t stay away from Holy Mass because you can’t go to Communion. Make a perfect act of contrition now, go to Confession as soon as possible, and please Our Lord by going to Mass even if you can’t receive Holy Communion.
 
no, I stayed home on both sundays. I was semi tired, but I coulda gone probably. I love going to the Cathedral, but I need to find a closer parish. When I missed 2 sundays ago I felt unworthy to goto communion again without confession and ended up missing the second sunday staying home too. I want to do my confession today saturday so I can take communion tommorow on sunday
 
Missing communion is NOT a mortal sin.

The SUnday Obligation is in reference to being present at Mass whether you recieve communion or not.

You can go to Mass but you can not go to Comunion. If you missed Mass because you were lazy or felt unworthy, you committed a mortal sin.
 
You can go to Mass without receiving Communion. The Sunday Obligation simply means that you must go to Mass. You are under no obligation to receive communion every time you go to Mass.

The snares the evil one sets for us . . . . compounding the problem by insinuating thoughts of unworthiness, separating us more and more, thereby getting us out of the habit of going to Mass . . . Just go to Mass, even if you can’t make Confession first, you can make a spiritual Communion. The make a point to get yourself to confession ASAP, so you can receive next time.

Here’s what I was taught: if you are feeling ill or exhausted to the point that you would stay home from a social event you really wanted to attend, you are feeling poorly enough to be excused from Mass without it being a sin. Maybe if you are too tired on Sunday morning, you could go on Saturday evening instead? Don’t let the devil trick you with this “unworthy” stuff, it’s nothing but a lie. Go to Mass even if you can’t receive, and get to confession ASAP so you **can **receive again. And do check out that closer parish. Even if you don’t like it as well and don’t want to enroll there, you can use it as a “backup” for the times when you just don’t feel like going farther away to your regular church. 👍

Isn’t Mass a social event that we really want to attend?
 
People should not be so quick to say who is in mortal sin. There are 3 conditions which need to be present, we don’t know if all three conditions were present. I am NOT saying that it is okay to miss Mass, but I am saying that we do not know what was in this persons heart at the time? Or do you?:rolleyes: It was stated in the first post that the distance is sometimes hard on him.
By the way you receive communion you do not “take” it.😉
