JJ - only you know how difficult it would have been for you to find a mass that would have allowed you to attend without causing you to miss work. If you know you could have found a mass to attend, then confess; if not, don’t.

I’m sorry but it was not an unannounced Holy Day. November 1st was listed as a HDO all year long, you should have been able to make arrangements. Arriving late or leaving early or if necessary taking a vacation day.

Well actually if I was even thinking of asking such a question from others I would definitely abstain from reception of Holy Communion until I went to confession.
By the way I missed Mass on Nov. 1 - That morning I was up until 1:30 AM with my 5 week old son and had to work at 12:00 Noon- the only Mass I could attend was 7:30 AM-
Even though some may say I am excused I still feel the need to confess it because if I made sacrifice and got out of bed instead of hitting the snooze button at 7:00 AM I could have made it.

If you honestly could not attend Mass at your own parish or another parish you did not sin. Sadly it is true that Holy Day Mass schedules in many parishes make it nearly impossible for working people to find a Mass they can attend. If you have a question in your own mind about whether or not it was possible to attend, that is addressed to your confessor, not here. Nobody hear can possible know what was true in your own situation nor can judge any better than you can with your own prudential knowledge and conscience, so there is not point in asking the question here.
