I’m wondering if missing mass in this circumstance (work schedule conflict and physical exhaustion) would be considered a mortal sin and whether I need to go to confession regarding it before taking the Eucharist.

Details:
I work in retail sales and over the holiday weekend I was working 12 hour days on my feet. Due to this holiday schedule I only had time to get to an early mass before I had to be at work yesterday but I literally slept through my alarm because I was so exhausted. I fully intended on going to mass but because I woke up late I missed it.
Normally on Sundays I can get to a mid morning mass before work just fine.

You can’t commit a mortal sin accidentally. If you missed mass because you accidentally slept in, you did not gravely sin.

Yes, go to confession. Do not rest your soul upon your limited knowledge and understanding. JESUS gave us wonderful priests, through which JESUS grants us pardon for our transgressions.
Speak both about your Sunday work and your exhaustion. JESUS will give you the correct reply.

JESUS loves you, seek HIS confessional grace.

If you were so exhausted that you literally slept through your alarm, then there is no sin. You cannot sin while you are unconscious, and the Lord knows you did not miss Mass on purpose. While we should not take missing Mass lightly, there are times when we can’t do the impossible, and God knows that. You do not need to confess what is not a sin–that is not what Confession is for.

However, if your conscience is that tender, discuss it with your priest so you can be put at ease and learn to distinguish more what is and is not sinful.

There is no need for you to go to confession in this circumstance. You are free to receive the Eucharist. You did not commit a mortal sin.
