I was talking with one of my friends today, and he said there are secret books hidden in the Vatican which share the details of Christ’s life from the age of twelve until the start of his public ministry. He said that if the information in these books was known, it would basically shatter all our beliefs about Christianity. Now, I don’t believe this, of course, but does anyone here have any idea where he might be getting this idea? If I remember right, he said he hadn’t read The Davinci Code (whether the book addresses such things, I don’t know). I thought he might be referring to the Gnostic Gospels, but these are certainly hidden in the Vatican (and certainly not reliable sources for information on Jesus). Any thoughts?

You should direct your friend to the Vatican website. There is an area called “The Secret Archives”. Tell him he can find that document there, and maybe all that reading will convert him 😃

Still sounds like he has fallen under the spell of the neo-gnostics that have popped up everywhere. You must pin him down on when and where he has heard these lies. That is the only way you will be able to counter them.

They must be really good at keeping “secrets” if your friend knows all about them

(and such an assertion requires proof on his part, not disproof on yours)

Firstly there is at least one KNOWN unofficial writing on this topic - I think it’s called the Protevangelion, but don’t quote me on it.

It details events from Jesus’ young life such as his bringing to life a bird made from clay (a story which interestingly made it into the Quran as well).

There are plenty of other KNOWN writings which give accounts of Christ’s life that differ from those of the Gospels, for example the one relating to a supposed marriage to Mary Magdalene, which WAS referred to in the Da Vinci code. Again these writings weren’t “hidden” - the Kings of France claimed descent from Jesus, how would they do that if the supposed marriage to Mary Magdalene was not widely known?

If Christianity is going to be shattered, there aren’t any writings around that can be worse than these, so writing alone isn’t going to do it.

Pssk! Hey you! Yeah you. Seek this guy. He knows all about it. You didn’t hear it from me.

Well, I’m not a CA employee, but let’s just say I work for a…hmm…“unregistered” Vatican agency. I can’t tell you anything about it, not directly, anyway.
This post will self destruct… when the protestants come home.

It’s too late to edit my first post, but this line

should actually say that the Gnostic Gospels are not hidden in the Vatican. Whoops. :o

Actually, your friend is right.

In those hidden archives is Jesus’ own autobiography.
Part of it he states that He “adored” his Mother, and that anything she ever asked of Him, He promised to, and did accomplish.
Then in another place He stated that she would be by His side forever.

Now, if all this would become known,“it would basically shatter all [THE] beliefs of [PROTESTANT] Christianity” !

Does your friend have an explanation as to why the Vatican would keep documents that would essentially destroy it? Certainly not for the love of truth, since they would know that their empire is built on lies. So why then?

Where can you find more information on this, that is reliable. I would like to read more about it.

If there are such things hidden in the Vatican, then I wonder where New Advent got these from: newadvent.org/fathers/ If one scrolls down there, he’ll find the various non-canon works, some of which were from various heteredox sects.

He is probably talking about either “The protovangelian” or “The Gospel of Thomas

They aren’t exactly hidden, you can find them many places on the net or pick up a copy “Lost books of the Bible and the forgotten books of Eden”

Peace and God Bless

I’m not exactly sure what he’s talking about. The odd thing about it all is that he says he’s a Christian (Pentecostal, to be precise). I may have to ask him more about this.

God bless!

No sane person could ever believe Jesus was married.

As for detailing Jesus life as a child this is certainly not in the Protoevangelium of James. You can read all of it online. It talks about Mary, not Jesus and the Church does not accept it as an inspired writing.

Fair enough … I’m well aware that none of the apocryphal Gospels or other works such as the Protevangelion are accepted as inspired. My point was purely that in spite of that they are very well known anyways (in fact isn’t it from the Protevangelion that we Catholics got the names of Mary’s parents - Anne and Joachim?)

I said the Church does not accept them as inspired. I didn’t say they are rejected as containing some information being interesting to read.

The topic anyway is about missing gospels hidden in the Vatican. Logic would dictate that is nonsense.
As another poster said, why would the Church preserve any document that might damage or destroy the Church. It wouldn’t take too much intelligence for Church leaders to to know that anything like that should be destroyed and not kept.

True, my bad. The other one would be “The Infancy Narrative of the Savior

Stuff like Jesus makes clay birds and animates them and they fly away. Kid falls off a roof and dies, people accuse Jesus of killing him and he raises the kid so he can tell the truth. The story about the tree (which is interesting because in the Egypt (one of the oriental churches) there is a shrine which they claim is the tree), the story about stretching out the board for St. Joseph etc. etc.

Perace and God Bless

That argument is like saying there is an invisible cat in this chair. No I can’t see it and I have no proof that its there, but that doesn’t mean its not there! My Orthodox Byzantine Icons professor told me the other day that if the Orthodox couldn’t find an icon or missing written documents, then they are hidden away in the Vatican somewhere. lol what a joke.

Thank Dan Brown.

sigh Well, we do what we have to in order to tell the truth. It might be small, but at least we’re making a statement…
