OK. Here’s the set-up.
My wife and I are both early birds and always attend the 7:00am Mass every Sunday.
Suppose that one Sunday morning I wake up and I am not feeling well. Since a personal is usually excused from Mass due to illness, I elect to stay home and my wife goes to Mass by herself. (I should mention that there is a Catholic Church close to our house, but we belong to another parish about 10 miles away and always attend there.)
Then, say around 11:00am, I am feeling better but not 100%. There is a 12:00 noon mass at the nearby church. I really don’t feel like driving 10 miles out and back to our regular parish, and could go to the church closer to us, but I feel that if I go to the local church I don’t have the sense of community I do at our regular church and I’m just there to get my “ticket punched.”
Even if I go, I won’t feel as though I had attend Mass because I’m among strangers and my heart is not really in it.
Should I still try to go to Mass?
