Well I did talk to my dad who is more devoted, he said don’t worry about it since we’re in Mexico. He said “just pray if you want to” I’m not going to obsess over it too much. The more I focus on this, the more culpable I am.
You could offer to help them with more chores, etc. if they will take to mass.

Depending on where you will be, there’s a good chance that there might be a historical church near the place you are staying. The resort may have a tour group already planned to attend Mass at a local parish. Depending on your age, your parents might be okay with you going on such an excursion, or might even agree to go with you. I would look into the possibility and ask your parents about it. I would NOT attempt to venture off the resort alone or without your parent’s permission. You could also ask the concierge if Mass is said at the resort you are staying at. I’ve heard that larger ones may have a chapel with a chaplain.

People, stop it!

This young person has already stated his parents do not like it when he asks. He asked. His father said no.

Leave this poor child alone!!

I think you should definitely do research to find the closest one to your resort and ask your parents the worst thing they will say is no. I agree with other posters as bringing it up as a sightseeing experience as well. You should make an effort at least.

Are you really completely oblivious to the all the kidnappings and violence mexico has going on?
Not oblivious, speaking from the experience of doing business both in border towns and central Mexico nearly monthly, and vacationing there at least twice a year…how often do you go, or are your opinions just based on what you “hear”?

Like I stated about Chicago, personal safety is no more harder to ensure in many place in Mexico than in the U.S.

I went fishing there every year for several years until a mass grave was uncovered near the lake and they started posting Mexican army soldiers at the lodge.

OP

Parents are hard to deal with. Don’t worry about missing Mass. It’s worth your while to ask them to bring you, before you go, and if their reaction is negative, do not worry about it.

Do not worry about it. You’re under their control, and it is through no fault of your own, okay? Just pray on Sunday, because God knows what’s going on better than any of us. He alone knows.

Because of God’s knowledge and love, you must not worry. You are His precious child.

That’s like saying I went to Los Angeles every year until I found out that over 100 people were murdered there every year…duh!

I’ve shown my proof of the travel warnings…not hearsay.

Going off resort in many places is not recommended…but you know best, random internet person. Way better than the state department, I’m sure.

Perhaps the same is true for Chicago…but we’re not talking about Chicago.

And when it comes to crime white people who look nice are targets. In Chicago your chance of being a victim dramatically increase if you are a person of color.

The thread is going off the rail & yet the grownups don’t know how to behave :man_facepalming:t2:

Please consider this as your sick day.

I feel like I could have written your post a few years ago. I tried to ask if my parents could drop me off at a nearby church on Sunday; they were not okay with the idea. I spoke to my priest asking for advice and he said that as my pastor he could dispense me from my obligation to attend. He advised me to pray for my family.
I was sad I couldn’t go to Mass, but I tried to offer it up. God knows that you’re not missing Mass because you want to but because you can’t go. He understands that you tried

Tell them bluntly you need to attend Mass on vacation. Continue this until they agree.

It’s worth asking them anyway.

I bet you might be able to find a parish to walk to close to where you’re staying.
