In regard to minor children, does the tail wag the dog?

You suggest badgering a parent. That’s not “family discussion” that’s being obnoxious.Encouraging a family discussion on the matter is neither rude or impolite. It is, merely, a family discussion. Hopefully, no one condones children missing Sunday Mass through parental negligence.
The lack of encouraging a minor to disobey their parents is not creating a generation of lapsed Catholics. That’s a leap.And, so another generation of lapsed Catholics is born. Sad.
Being a minor is different than being someone’s child. Minors are someone’s children, but after the age of majority one is free to disobey parents and we are permitted to enable that behavior.Not always. St. Francis of Assisi disobeyed his parents by becoming a monk.
