Missing Mass

I know its only August so I’m really posting early. I’m in Oklahoma and we don’t get snow we get 5 inches of ice. Is weather a good reason for missing Mass? I’m not talking about a little rain or anything like that. I’m talking about BAD weather. School is canceled and they are saying not to drive type of weather. I know that sickness is a ok reason to miss Mass but I wasn’t sure about severe weather.

You are not required to endanger yourself or others to get to Mass in bad weather. Here in Baltimore, we have lots of ice, too, and lots of people who don’t have the skill to drive in it, so sometimes the Cardinal announces that the Sunday obligation is cancelled for the day.

But you can make your own decision on this, just as you would for illness. If it’s truly dangerous for you to drive or walk in the weather conditions, it’s fine to stay home.

It sounds great! Its been 100+ for the past week and they say we are going to have a cold front move in…Its going to be 90. That doesn’t count as a cold front to me!
