this isnt referring to me, specifically…but i was just thinking let’s say a person has a terminal illness or is just so sick that he or she is missing out alot of life. ie: having fun time with friends, wants to volunteer but cant, possibly working…all these things that the person really wants to do but just cant and they end up feeling really sad…so when this person dies and goes to heaven, do you think that God will somehow “make up” for their losses?

Just being there will make up for any losses I’m experiencing here in this temporal phase…
Do I miss being the active person was before?
Yes…
Some days are better than others, but there is a glory awaiting…

John 16:33

33 These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you shall have distress: but have confidence, I have overcome the world.

First of all, a Catholic person who is ill or their family/friends should contact the priest so that he can visit them and administer the Sacraments, especially if they have been away from the Church.

When one is in the state of sanctifying grace, one can offer his/her sufferings in union with the sufferings of Our Lord, which give the person’s sufferings infinite value.

One could offer up their sufferings for the poor souls in Purgatory, the Holy Father & our bishops, for fallen-away Catholics etc.

When I was in college, I got food poisoning so bad that I was quarantined in the hospital. No visitors allowed, lest I catch pneumonia. My only consolation was EWTN on the TV. The third day, I asked for a priest to hear my confession, give me Communion and anoint me. The nurse got the priest. He heard my confession, gave me Communion, anointed me and that’s when I started getting better. (And that was 25+ years ago!)

I love you (name removed by moderator).
The hope for things unseen. The hope beyond hope is that our tears will be wiped away one day. O death where is your sting? There is victory in our Risen Christ.

So true. Catholics believe in the power of redemptive suffering. When we unite our sufferings with Christ, we partake in His suffering for humanity.

All of this ^ (and much other good advice here).

I have good days and some bad days. I’ve had great days and some ugly ones. Prayer never fails to make me feel better.

There are also some good, healthy alternatives (depending upon your circumstances) that can help both spiritually and therapeutically as well with the loss of familiar activities.
