A Parish (which I do not typically attend) skipped the first reading, the Psalm, and the second reading, then proceeded to act out the Gospel while everyone was sitting down. (It was a Palm Sunday Mass)

I am not an expert on the subject of a Valid Mass but it didn’t seem right.

Does anyone know where I can find resources or references so that I could possibly write a letter to the parish expressing my concern?

What you describe is not licit – that is, it does not follow the rubrics of the mass.

It does not, however, invalidate the mass.

I’m sorry you had to experience that. There is a parish nearby that I never attend during Holy Week because of their nonsense with things like this – drives me batty and I just can’t concentrate on the mass/service.

Did they read out the Passion play?

Was the psalm and Gospel reading done at the blessing of the psalms?

They sort of read out the passion play but it wasn’t in the typical manner per say. The congregation was silent the whole time.

They did not read out the Psalm at all. Not even during the blessing of the palms.

This is what we did.

Went outside for blessing of palms and the Bishop read out the Gospel. We sang too. Then we moved inside,
More song, readings, prayers, then the passion play. The Bishop was the readings of Jesus, and others were Peter, Judas and the narrator of the reading. The congregation were the mob.
Then we celebrated Communion.

Were your psalms sung?

We don’t involve the congregation. Our Passion (Canada) is divided into only 3 parts: Narrator, Jesus, and all others done by a single reader.
