Is it sinful to listen to this podcast? The host and producer is “married” gay man (he says so on the first episode), and many of the interview subjects are gay as well.

Yet, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find the whole premise fascinating – the guy just disappeared without a trace. He’s like the Salinger of the new millennium.

Are they discussing what might have happened to Mr. Simmons, or promoting the gay lifestyle? If the former, I can’t imagine what the sin would be.

Well, it depends if it is vulgar and filled with graphic content.

It probably wouldn’t be. Richard Simmons never came across as vulgar.

I hope he’s well. I used to watch him as a kid. I wish he would wear regular clothes instead of gym shorts though.

I don’t know anything about this podcast, but I did see a Richard Simmons infomercial last year, I guess it was a re-run but his DVDs are certainly still on the market.

BTW a quick Google search was enough to confirm that Mr. Simmons, though choosing to shun the public eye these days, is actually alive and well:

foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/03/10/richard-simmons-is-perfectly-fine-and-there-is-nothing-wrong-with-him-says-lapd-detective.html

Now I know not everyone trusts “Faux News” around here at least when it comes to political stories, but this news story seems fairly legit:
The welfare check came as Simmons’ whereabouts have been making headlines thanks to a new podcast, titled “Missing Richard Simmons,” produced by a former pal of the 68-year-old star, Dan Taberski.
“He’s getting older like the rest of us, but other than that he is perfectly fine,” Becker said. “He is capable; he is very nice, very friendly.”
Becker said he spoke with Simmons for “probably a little more than an hour.” The detective confirmed he also interviewed the star’s staff. A similar welfare check was conducted in 2015, and it was revealed at the time that Simmons had grown a beard. Becker said Simmons no longer had a beard, and all seemed well at his home.
“It’s ridiculous,” Becker said. “The guy is doing this, on the internet, he is just looking for publicity. There is nothing wrong with [Simmons].”
The detective said Simmons has voluntarily cut off contact with his family and friends.
“He said when he wants to contact his friends or acquaintances or business associates he will,” Becker revealed.
ETA: I don’t think it’s sinful to watch or listen to a show just because there are gay people involved in it. Otherwise it would be sinful for me to watch Chopped on Food Network, as the host, Ted Allen, is also a gay “married” man.

(And I only know that because Ted Allen was on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and I read a magazine article about him and his husband raising bees. AFAIK he’s never discussed it on the show himself. Although some of the chef contestants are openly gay and make a point of mentioning their same-sex partners or spouses. I still don’t think it’s a sin to watch gay people cooking on TV.)
