I am curious: is it wrong to approach the Altar for Communion if you missed the prayer of absolution at the beginning of Mass?
I was late for Mass today and came-in right after the opening prayer as everyone was sitting down. I do not recall committing any serious sins since my last Confession, but I nonetheless missed the opening prayer of Absolution.
The most serious sins I have likely committed since my last Confession would have been minor (non-mortal) sins. Since I was not in a state of grave sin to the best of my knowledge (I haven’t done an examination of conscious recently), would it still be appropriate for me to recieve Communion despite not having had my sins cleansed by the priest’s prayer at the start of Mass?
