I found this Breviary and it seems cheap in terms of how much one can spend for one. My question is since i don’t know these people i checked their site but they don’t have an impurmatur or anything from the church. does anyone know about them?

:mad:Thanks for the smart reply but typically when one asks for assistance they provide the links rather than making those who wish to help to search for themselves.:mad:

I would stick with a breviary approved of by the Church. This group does not seem to be a Catholic group and seems to be focusing on the West Bank.

Not that that is not good, but I would not use it myself if I was not required to pray the Liturgy of the Hours of the Church.

sorry couldn’t help myself. im weirded out because it doesn’t say who they are affiliated with. you are not required to pray the liturgy of the hours but you should it helps.

As a religious brother I am required by the Constitutions of my Order to pray the Liturgy of the Hours.

That you can not really find out much about the group is why I would stay away from it. You might search their website and see if they have an email address or check out their e-zines to see what you can find.
 
From what little time I took to do some research, I find articles that say they are rooted in the Anabaptist tradition.

"Anabaptists (Greek ανα (again, twice) +βαπτιζω (baptize), thus “re-baptizers”[1]) are Christians of the Radical Reformation. This article describes the Anabaptists of 16th-century Europe and their direct descendants, particularly the Amish, Hutterites, and Mennonites.

Anabaptists rejected conventional Christian practices such as wearing wedding rings, taking oaths, and participating in civil government. They adhered to a literal interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount and Believer’s baptism. The name Anabaptist is derived from this, because credobaptism was considered heresy by all other major Christian denominations at the time of the reformation period (specifically, all major Christian denominations saw baptism as necessary for salvation and necessary for infants, and held that it was wrong to delay baptism until the child had reached a certain age; they did, however, require that those who converted later in life should confess a baptismal creed at baptism. Anabaptists required that candidates be able to make their own confessions of faith and so refused baptism to infants). As a result, Anabaptists were heavily persecuted during the 16th century and into the 17th by both Roman Catholics and other Protestants."
 
thanks for the info. im glad i didn’t buy this and waste 5 bucks. does anyone know of a good ebook version of a breviary?

I have used this breviary.

Unlike those which developed in the traditional Christianity this breviary is simple, easy to use, and it cycles in only 4 weeks. It is geared for Christians who choose to minister to those in their neighborhood.

Each week features a different Gospel.

By the way, when they mention the West Bank they are referring to a neighborhood in the Minneapolis/ Saint Paul area, not the Holy Land.

I highly recommend it.
