Mission diocese?

I just read that my diocese is a “mission diocese”. Does anybody know the differences between an everyday run-of-the-mill diocese and a mission diocese?

I think technically all missionary dioceses still fall under the jurisdiction of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, so that would be one thing.

Practically, though, what you’ll find is that parishes and priests will tend to be more spread out, and mission dioceses tend to rely very heavily on religious priests instead of having a well-developed secular (i.e. diocesan) presbyterate.
